Has anyone got some really practical useful ideas to deal with stress? (Assuming the stressor can't be removed).
Think cheap, practical and not time consuming.
thanks!!!!

oh btw, i hate sitting in the bathtub when pregnant, it makes my tummy feel like it is contracting. Weird i know, but it feels disgusting, and horrendously unbearable. (this doesn't hapen when not pregnant).

I always loved how doctors say "stop being so stressed"
As if there is a switch you can turn on and off...
Wouldn't we do that if it were that easy to begin with?
I liked baths, and lived near the beach while I was pregnant. So walking along after work and soaking my feet was nice.
Reading is also great. I never was big into reading...
So I just started reading books on labor, and child care... and ended up buying novels.
Money is usually the most stressful part of being a new parent. "can i afford this" blah blah ...
truthfully I don't think anyone, other than millionares are financialy ever ready... Just rely on friends and family to help you out.
Create a support system.
Treat yourself to a nice spa store... get some good smelling oils and rub them on your belly:) aroma therapy!
<3 good luck

Well, my apartment complex has a swimming pool, so towards the end of my pregnancy (which is thankfully summer), I went swimming a lot.
Otherwise, I went on Yahoo Answers and other forums to chat with people. I went to craft stores and do some crafts like scrapbooking (this might be a little expensive, but there always be something on sale). I bought markers and started a colorful diary. I bought some coloring books and started coloring (I'd been coloring as a stress relieved since middle school).
Those stuffs you can do at your own time, and you get to determine when to stop.
The most useful stress-reliever for me now is cooking.

I had a stressful job where I was on my feet for 12 hours until I was 18 weeks along and I had a hard time calming down at night. My mother in law found a set of CDs for pregnant women that had classical music. I played these at night and I was usually asleep before the CD was over.

15 minutes in the bubble bath does WONDERS for me...bubble bath and bath salts at walmart are only a few dollars for a big bottle...so i'd say thats pretty cheap...plus the cost of the water...i also unscrew a couple of lightbulbs above the mirror to make the room more dim or just light a few candles...its so relaxing you need to try it

Hi sassy24,
I found that spending time with animals helped me a lot. It also helped with my antenatal depression.
Hot shower or bath is good.
A good book and a block of chocky.
Time doing something you enjoy like a hobby or craft.
Or just go for a walk.
Sorry I can't be of anymore help than that.

I agree with the last lady. Find a pool! Swimming is so good for you. Sitting in a raft with all of the weight off of you is wonderful too.

Ever tried scrapbooking? I find it very relaxing, even though I don't really have creative bone in my body. It also documents your kids lives, etc. I also kind enjoyed a walk from time to time...or just a really good book.

sit in a cool room with the air conditioner on and just think to yourself, or read of rest .. on your own with no one there to annoy you
the biggest stress reliever for me is just sitting in the pool for about 30minutes, with no one around to bother me, it takes the weight of my belly and also makes me feel refreshed.
you could try this
good luck
