i live alone.
my mother said i should stay at her house the first few days after birth. I REALLY DONT WANT TO.

My family said i will be immobile after i give birth and i need help (even though she will be at work 9 hrs of the day anyway even if i do stay at her house?)

if i stay at home my fiancee will be home by 6pm and my mother will come after work. Provided i have a uncomplicated, natural birth i will be ok in my own home right?

In your opinion, do you think it's "okay" or "normal" to be upset when you're told the gender of your baby and it's not the one you were hoping for?

Does it make you a bad mom? Even if you almost cry?

(mind you, 2 minutes later you're completely thrilled no matter what it is. so i'm just talking about the second you're told).

***just a poll .... I'm not pregnant***

Hi, I'm 29 and my husband and I found out I was pregnant about 4 months ago. When we told my family, we thought they'd all be elated and happy for us since we had been trying for about a year.

Well, we came to realize that my family didn't care at all. My mother gave me a hug but she really never wanted to dicuss it again. I have a sister (who's shadow I've always been in) who is a neurosurgeon and just recently became board certified...so my family cannot stop gushing about that, especially since my father is a neurosurgeon as well.

Now, I'm not a doctor, I'm just a 3rd grade teacher, but I'm very happy, and it just hurts that they can't see that. I thought maybe the feeling of excitment would kick in for my parents and other family members but I am 5 months now and no one seems to care.

I don't want to be pushy and have to make them be excited...I want it to come naturally for them, but I don't see that happening.

My husband, Joseph Carl, was previously married and had a son, Joseph CONNER who only goes by Conner. The first wife did not want to name him Joseph Carl IV. My hubby still wants a son named after him. The second son (coming next month with me) WOULD go by Joseph. Does anyone see this causing any problems?

Hello,

I have twin daughters, one is in her last year of med school to become an anesthesiologist and the other decided not to go to college. The daughter that decided to not go to school is engaged to an investment banker. That got everyone in the family's attention.

My daughter that is in school gets no attention at family gatherings (and we are a big family who has alot of them). I don't understand as I am very proud of her. Everyone is focused on my engaged daughter (and not just because of the wedding). My other daughter feels left out. I don't understand the reasoning behind this as they are both equally friendly and outgoing. My daughter that is in school tries to talk about how excited she is to be in med school and become what she always wanted to be...but no one listens and just brushes her off.

Thank you to anyone who helps...it will be greatly appreciated! :)

Last night I started to have a little bit of bleeding,Im 6 weeks pregnant. I called my doctor and she said to just take it easy and not to panic and wait till Monday to be seen by anyone. I just miscarried in April,so I really didnt want to wait two days wondering,so I went to the ER last night and they said the blood was old blood and I have no active bleeding and my cervix is closed,so I was kinda relieved. Today I woke up and my pad was full of bright red blood and there was clots too and I have mild period cramps. I know that i am probably miscarrying, but has anyone had this happen to them without miscarrying? Im not in severe pain or anything, and I heard when you miscarry, the pain is severe. I had a missed miscarriage in April and had a D&C,so I didnt experience an actual miscarriage. Sorry this is so long.

I have just found that my son is going to be in a multi-age classroom this year. I had already known he'd be with the same teacher from last year and I had said that I thought that a multi-age classroom might be good for him. I had read about some benefits including overall more acceptance of differences and of peers, less peer pressure, the fact that children grow and learn from siblings that are of different ages than them, it can promote leadership, and nurturing qualities. As far as I know they will all be learning the first grade curriculum.(Children Kindergarten age that are ready to begin learning first grade skills already will be in this class along with the 1st graders.) I can see how it could benefit a child like my own who entered school at an early age and give them extra time to mature at their own rate...And I like that he will still be learning 1st grade level work. I was also wondering if anyonelse had any thoughts on this or anyone that who has experienced this could
