Why do so many people justify doing things that are known to be dangerous-i.e. smoking while pregnant, inducing labor with castor oil, etc.-by saying "I smoked the whole nine months and my baby was fine" or "it worked for a friend and they had no problems".

I liken it to saying "My friend drove 100 MPH down the dirt road and crashed into a tree, but survived. I will be fine if I do the same thing" or "I ate that mayonnaise sandwhich that was left in the car all day with temperatures reaching 120 and did not get food poisoning, so neither will you".

You and/or your friend may have been lucky, but why take the risk when it comes to your child's health?

Just had a convosation with my friend who doesnt agree with carrying on names in the family as she thinks every child should have its own identity i on the other hand proberly do not think like that if you look at names in our family lol
my first son (8) is named jordan michael ... michael is the name of both his grandfathers
my husband of 4 years is called mchael as his dad and grandfather and great grandfather is and also his son from previous relationship is called michael. our 2 youngest children are both girls and they have middle names anne and sandra (both are names of relatives on both sides)
i have to agree it does get confusing lol what do u think????

I am 15 and I am getting many distractions. Mainly I keep thinking of my bf though we are together for past one year. I feel lazy after the holidays. I think a lot on sex also which i never did before. I am worried. My dream is to get a PHD in Social Science like my dad. My bf also wants to become an Engineer and dreams for a BIG living. Me and my boyfriend have wanted to have a baby together since we got together over 4 years ago. I was only on birth control for 6 months and stopped.. now it's been at least 3 1/2 years since the birth control wore off.. and still nothing.
Everyone around me is pregnant... ALL of my friends and even my brothers wife.. I'm tired of playing the waiting game and I feel like I won't have a baby until I get on some medication to help me. So Ive given up for now.
My periods are semi-regular now, my last cycle was only 35 days and for the first time in 2 years I was happy to see my period again so soon.
I know I have PCOS but I can't afford a doctor at the moment, so my only choice is to give up and wait.
I just get so depressed when my friends shove their sonograms in my face, talking about baby showers and formula and things like that.. and at the end of the year everyone is going to have a baby in their arms but me.
So this is my resignation. I give up :(

i have been having a ton of contractions that are more intense then the braxton hicks contractions. i really feel like i will be having her in a week or less. i wanted to know about other woman who have had their babies at 36 weeks or close to and how were the results. how was the baby? was it just as if full term or did the baby have problems after the baby was born?

He has had boiled carrots and potato. He also had some banana yesterday. He is having solid at one mealtime only. I have given him water and he is drinking it. Rest of the time he is breastfed. Any ideas?

My period came back in May I stopped breastfeeding in June. My period came on the same day both times but when July came I spotted the week before and of my expected period. I took two tests both said no. I am having heartburn I only ever had it when I was pregnant and body aches. I went and had a blood test it also said negative. So what is going on? I had been trying to use the ovulation calculators but with everything going crazy I don't know which day I am ovulating. I don't want a big gap between our kids so I would like to get pregnant soon. Any suggestions

my 4 year old girl is very independant. and a daddy's girl. but when it comes to disapline from him she'll have nothing to do with it. she ignores him and talks back or will scream to try and get my attention. altho she sometimes talks back to me.. i am able to disapline her better without the fights help! why won't she listen to her dad when she is deff. a daddy's girl.

We aren't yet expecting but we are trying for our second baby. I have been having crazy dreams about our children not having names and people calling them a and b.
