With all 3 of my pregnancies I had sex up until I gave birth. My doctor said it was fine and as long as your doctor says it's fine too, have at it. You will, however, have to get creative with positions towards the end because that big belly really gets in the way.

Unless a condition has occured which led your medical provider to instruct you otherwise, sexual intercourse is safe until the onset of labor.

The only precautions I am aware of are to be sure it is comfortable for the pregnant woman, and stop if there is any pain. Some bleeding is common after intercourse, just as it is common after an internal exam during pregnancy-the blood flow to the cervix increases during pregnancy and it is very irritable. However, if there is a large amount of bleeding and/or it is bright red, you should consult your medical provider.
