Try Preggie Pops. I never tried them, but my friends say they are great.
Keep a few dry crackers or pretzels on hand at all times. I found that early on if I didn't eat small snacks constantly, I felt ill. I carried little bags of snacks in my purse and always had snacks on hand while at work. She will be able to tell you what foods/drinks she will be able to tolerate. They are not necessarily cravings, but rather things that are not complete turnoffs. (unfortunately, after her sickness passes, she will probably never be able to tolerate those things again ~ bad association to feeling sick will linger - I can't eat bananas or drink iced tea anymore).
If she is actually throwing up ~not just feeling like it~ she needs to be sure she is getting enough liquids so as not to dehydrate. Also, it is better to throw up something than to have the dry heaves.
Everyone is different. This is my 3rd pregnancy and 1st time with morning sickness...it lasted only about a month. My aunt was very ill for the entire 9 months of both her pregnancies even landing her a few trips to the hospital.
Congratulations! She is lucky to have a supportive husband like you!

Places like Motherhood Maternity sell a product called "preggie pops." They are little suckers (or lollypops) that have the ginger in them. They worked well for many friends.
For me, each pregnancy was different in what worked. This one all I could get down for a while was juice and the frozen fruit juice bars from Minute Maid. With one of the boys regular fruit and some cereal.
Some for sure things to try:
1) take her prenatals at NIGHT not in the morning. They can trigger morning sickness
2) eat a lot of small meals rather than three big ones.
3) If she can't get any actual food down, at least get juices, sprite, fruit juice bars down. The baby will take everything it needs. It is momma we are worried about with morning sickness. I lost 13lbs this pregnancy and couldn't eat actual food for weeks. That was what my doc told me I had to eat if I couldn't get anything else down.
4) if it gets super bad, ask the doc for anti nausea meds. They are safe for baby and will really help!

I have an 8 month old, and my younger sister has recently become impregnanted. Luckily I didnt get morning sickness but she does.
She threw up everything she ate.. but found out that she could handle eating spicy foods without getting sick.
I suggest eating crackers, drinking ginger ale, licking salt off her hands whenever she feels nautious (I know this sounds wierd but it does work).
Also, have her eat something with salt or small BEFORE she gets out of bed in the morning.. have some crackers by the bedside. This has been proven to reduce morning sickness.

I had the same problem during my pregnancy. I never tried ginger, but I bought a motion sickness bracelet and it seemed to help a little. I bought mine at bass pro, but you should be able to find someplace close to you that sells them. I always took my time getting out of bed each morning, it took me about half an hour. I just sat up very, very slowly. Before I got up I forced saltine crackers down my throat and waited 30 minutes before trying to get up. Your wifes doctor should be able to perscribe her with medicine to help the nauseau that is relatively safe during pregnancy. I never took the medication, just to be safe. I hope your wife feels better soon, morning sickness usually subsides at the end of the first trimester. Congratulations on the baby, I hope this helped you some.

I nearly died of dehydration because the morning sickness would not allow me to keep things down.
I found that the one thing that I could keep down was strawberry flavored milk. I found that taking Nestle's strawberry milk in small sips helped me to regain my strength and I could eat some bland solids in a couple of days.
I now have beautiful, healthy pre-teen kids. Since my deliveries, I have had some friends who have gone through nasty morning sickness. I told them about the strawberry milk and it worked for them too.
Try it with your wife. If it doesn't work for her, don't give up. Do not let her become dehydrated. You could lose the baby and possibly your wife as well. Dehydration is a serious illness.

I hate to say this but I don't think there is anything that really makes it go away. I have three children and had really bad "morning" sickness - even though it lasted all day - and the only cure was getting to the 15th week of pregnancy.
Your wife needs to eat small meals and eat what sounds good to her. Congrats!

Sucking or sniffing a freshly cut lemon worked wonders for me, I also put cut lemon in black tea and had that first thing in the morning which helped. She could also try sucking travel sickness sweets or sherbet lemons. Ginger did nothing for me - she could try ginger biscuits though.
Congratulations!

You can probably buy some ginger tea and she can drink it. Also before she gets out of bed she can have some crackers or pretzels on her nightstand so she can eat a few before she gets out of bed in the morning. It really helps to have something in your stomach before you decide to rise.
