Pregnancy & Parenting - 1 June 2007

I am at home right now, and my son and two daughters are in school, and my husband is in Boston until late tonight. At about 12:00 I began getting contractions and they were around 10 minutes apart, and now that its 1:00, the contractions are even closer together. need to pick up my twin girls at day care at 2 and my son doesn't get home until about 3:30 and he can stay home alone. What am i suppost to do ?!?! PLEASE HELP! I need to get to a hospital, and I cant't drive there alone! Should i have a friend drive me?And have another friend pick my kids up from school??

My daughter is 15 and has been friends with this guy who is 20. He's been around for a while and the family loves him but I think she's too young but I am having mixed feelings about it. He's very repectful and he developed feeling for her when she told him she was 17. She told me he was 17. She got in major trouble but now how do I break them up? She'll hate me forever.

My son, who is now 2 1/2 has a poop issue. For the longest time he has not wanted to change his diper after pooping. I would ask if he pooped and he would tell me "no" everytime. In the last few weeks as we have begun the potty training talk he now tells us when he poops and immediately takes off his diaper. I have been looking at this as a good sign that he is coming around to the potty in the toilet attitude. Unfortunately he has developed a habit of playing with it. Even though we (him and I) have talked about the yuckiness of the poop he still plays with it. Twice now he has ended up covered head to toe and covered carpet, blankets and toys with it. What can I do to end this nastiness??

My son is 19 months old. I realize he may be whining in some cases because he is trying to communicate and is getting frustrated by that. But there are times when it seem's like he is just trying to push our buttons. For instance, he will whine and point at a toy, we give him the toy. He then drops it and whines pointing to another toy. When he has all the toys, he just starts whining for no reason. Is there a way to discourage this behaviour?

I have tryed to slap my sons hand and tryed to spnk him(he sometimes laughs)(not hard but enough to make him realize he isnt aloud to do it) and I have tryed time out put he just yells the whole time or gets up over and over. What should I do to help him learn not to get into things that are no nos.I tell him no he leaughs as well.He is a good baby just doeant like to listen sometimes.He is 22 months alomst two years.Any advise will help.Thank you very much!

can you put blankets over babies? my neighbour told me that they can suffocate with blankets so she put her twins in thick body suits for the winter and light body suits for the summer. is this ok or will they get cold? can you tell i'm a first time mum?

when or is it even possible to stop using the baby bumpers for my just turned 1 year old in her crib? Reason I ask is she has broken a second pair now (I'd have to buy another) and spills milk all over them - her bottles drip the milk when she is done. She is not ready for a bed yet at all either.

I just went in for my 38 week check up. I am dilated to a "loose one" but my cervix is still posterior. He had to go around the baby's head to feel it. Is it still going to come around? If so, how long does that take? I'm just worried that I'll have to have a c-section.

My husband and I have been TTC since December 2005. We both want children, but I can't help but having these fears now and then. Sometimes I see parents on the street or in stores and they just look so miserable and some of them are yelling at their kids and looked all stressed out. (I know how that feels, my dog stresses me out sometimes too lol) Sometimes I'm afraid I'm going to regret getting pregnant and having kids. I tell my husband and he's like 'oh don't worry you won't regret it'. I don't know how he can just be so sure. Anyone else ever feel this way?

I am 5 weeks pregnant and I just found out about a week ago. Before I found out I was pregnant I had been getting very dizzy more than usual. I have Vertigo so I get dizzy a few times a week, but the past month it is every day and every time I lay down or get out of bed. It's very exhausting. Once I found out I was 5 weeks along and I realized my Vertigo had been worse in the past month I thought maybe pregnancy had something to do with it. If anyone has any advice on how to make this go away or atleast alleviate it I would be so greatful. It's a real headache.

ok so according to my last period im about 5 weeks along....I know most doctors wont see you until your 8-12 weeks along but the problem is i have no health insurance.....has anyone been in this situation if so how to you handle your prenatal care????

Okay... since last couple of days i have noticed some changes going on with my body during this pregnancy. I dont feel sick almost at all which is really weird because every morning when i woke up the first thing i did is throwing up. another thing... at night i used to run to the bathroom at least 4 times, now only one once i wake up (i do still drink the same amount of fluids like before).
I have experienced something like that with my previous pregnancy which ended up in miscarriage. All of the sudden i stopped feeling the symptoms of pregnancy and then one morning i woke up with bad cramp and heavy bleeding.
What can this be? thanks for your help!

My doc told me it was just my pelvis spreading. But I am beginning to doubt it. It has been happening for about a month now and everytime I sit up or stand up I want to pass out from the pain. Has this happened to anyone? If its not my pelvis what could it be? This is my 2nd child and I didnt feel this at all with my first, I would have thought my pelvis was already spread from my first.

I am 14 weeks pregnant with my second baby. (I am 27 now, and had my first at 25, after 1 year of being married to the man I've been dating for 5 years). I work in an urban/academic environment, and a lot of the women that I have to associate with are very career-oriented, and have openly expressed their opinion that having kids before 35 is a huge mistake. A lot of them think that having children at all is a huge mistake, and act in a very condescending manner around me. What can I do to deal with them? What kind of snappy comebacks can I have when they make snide remarks about "procreating at such an alarming rate"?

Our (former) OB had no clue that our second baby had "vanished" until an Ultrasound Technician told us at 22 weeks that we only had one baby.

i am considering terminating my pregancy because i recently found out my boyfriend of 6 yrs has a wife and 4 kids in his country and he lied to me about her being dead. iam so upset, he expects me to have his child when he is going to pakistan to sleep with his wife for 3 months, while iam here in the states pregant..thanks.

I know that the water for an infant to bathe should be around 90 - 95 degrees....but what about a pool? I purchased an inflatable kid's pool , big enough for me to get in with her , but how do you monitor the water temp. in it? Should I leave it out all day to warm it up? Or is it okay to put a baby in cooler water being that the outdoor temp. is warmer?

She is 4 months old...I will probably wait until around 5-6 months anyway , but still need ideas.
