I'm pretty sure you can get free prental care through the federal or state governments. Call your local WIC office - google search for the one in your area - and they can help you.

You might also qualify for Medicaid, depending on your income and the number of people in your household. Go to http://www.benefits.gov to see what you qualify for.

I would also start shopping for health insurance because you and your child will really need it as time goes by, and you shouldn't keep relying on the taxpayers and government programs. You might need to look for a good job that has a good health plan.

Congratulations!

Eat healthy. Buy some prenatal vitamins. Drink water and take good care of yourself. Buy the book What to Expect When Expecting, that will help alot.
Try websites for lots of info.

Can you apply for assistance? Medicaid?
You can go a few more week but prenatal care is a must.
Congrats on the baby and I wish you the best!

See if you qualify for state assistance. If you do not, then you will need to have your doctors office set up a payment plan. You cannot get insurance now to cover the pregnancy because they consider that a pre-existing condition and most insurance policies have a waiting period for pregnancy anyways. Good luck to you.

That's not true, a doctor would see you as soon as you "think" you are pregnant to start you on prenatal vitamins, if you can't afford health insurance try WIC. The standard for that is how much money you make or don't make, if you earn yearly over a certain amount they won't accept you. If you get accepted they will pay for your medical bills, food, baby food etc, but you can only see certain doctors that accept the WIC program in their practice, they will tell you which and you have the minimum amount of appointments possible, so you need to make the most of them. It pretty much covers the bare minimum.

Try medicaid...they usually only help if you are not married but then again they do help if you are a very low income family. I was on medicaid with my first and it covered EVERYTHING. You are only allotted 1 sonogram/ultrasound and if the baby is a boy you have to pay for the circumcision or just not have it done. There are other alternatives for the ultrasaound...you can pay for it yourself (if you want more than one to determine sex) or go to the schools, they do it for free because they are students...THEY DO HAVE ACTUAL EXPERIENCED SONOGRAPHERS THERE THOUGH. Medicaid helped a lot, now I am married and luckily I have awesome insurance through my job and I only have to pay about $300 out of pocket for my pregnancy and delivery. I have Aetna. If Medicaid doesn't approve you then definately go with Aetna...they will not let you down!! Congrats!!!

you should contact the county offices you live in and ask them about state insurance, they will lead you to the right place. I had to do this as well. and don't worrie about the dr bill at this point b/c the insurand you will get goes back 3 months for sure. and your doc won't make you pay cash, they will just have you sign a waiver at your visit. it's best to get confermation from a doc before you talk to the county, they need a proof letter from you doc. and also your doc, WILL see you that early just so you know. I hope you find everything you need to. if you have any more questions or need help still finding out stuf in your county let me know, I'll try to help.

My first appt was when I was five weeks. He did the ultrasound but only saw the placenta so because I was early in pregnancy I got another appt for one mont later. as far as medicaid, you can ask one of your local clinics for an application. It took me 5 days for my insurance to kick in(Im in New Orleans) It covers everything! I get dental appts and eye doc exams! You should do it asap but most docs will see you without it the first time, but wont do blood work because thats the pricey part until your insurance kicks in! Good luck and congrats

I'm in your position right now. I'm paying out of pocket for my appointments and saving for the price of the birth at the hospital.(totally broke) I make too much money to qualify for medicaid but that doesn't mean you shouldn't look into it. No insurance company would touch me saying that pregnancy is a pre-existing condition. Good luck with everything.

yes go to your local Medicaid office. Every pregnant woman who cannot afford health care will be provided with health insurance not just for you but for you and the unborn baby.

Whether you want to keep it or not you can get assistance.
Don't fret they will able to help you out. You should also apply for WIC(Women Infant Children) you cant get free food to keep you healthy...

Go to the clinic and get some prenatal vitamins, then go to the department of social services and get on Medicaid. If you qualify they will pay all medical expenses.
