I am 24 weeks pregnant. I have noticed that after I orgasm, my belly, mostly right below my belly button firms up quite a bit and feels hard to the touch. Why does this happen?

you're getting braxton hicks contractions...it's really common and not dangerous unless they continue for a long time and get stronger or painful

Because the same hormones released during an orgasm are the hormones that cause contractions. You are feeling contractions in your uterus, but don't panic. The amount released and length of time that they are being released is not enough (at this point in your pregnancy) do throw you into active labor. Plus, there is another hormone that regulates these contractions. Unless your doctor tells you to stop having sex, you have nothing to worry about. This is one of the reasons doctors actually recommend having lots of sex when you are super close to, or have gone past your due date.

My belly has been doing this too, I'm almost 23 weeks. I've been assuming that it's the baby just getting re-situated after the contractions that an orgasm causes.

When you have an orgasm your uterus contracts. You normally don't feel the tightness in your belly because your uterus is about the size of a pear. Now that you are pregnant and your uterus is much larger, the muscle contractions and tightening are easier to feel and see.

im sure this is braxton hicks contractions. Nothing to worry about, unless you're bleeding or having severe pain. Just enjoy your orgasms.

No. The embryo would be about the size of a pin-p rick, in your normal sized uterus that would still be about the size of your fist. If your tummy feels funny, you probably have gas. Or the flu.

your uterus contracts when you have an orgasm, it does it everytime, but when your pregnant you can obviously feel it better. Its normal, and harmless. Have fun!!
