I just went in for my 38 week check up. I am dilated to a "loose one" but my cervix is still posterior. He had to go around the baby's head to feel it. Is it still going to come around? If so, how long does that take? I'm just worried that I'll have to have a c-section.

A posterior cervix means the cervix is tilted to the back of your body, usually behind the baby's head. This is NORMAL. As you labor, the baby's position changes, and your cervix becomes more anterior (more towards the front). A posterior cervix just describes where your cervical opening is located at the present time. Posterior usually indicates that it is not yet ready for induction and/or labor. That will change once labor begins.

This is all totally normal so don't let it worry you. It's just the way your body is designed and should cause no problems with labor OR delivery.

The cervix moves around from posterior (think of if you pulled a turtleneck over your head and teh opening was on the back of your head) to midline to anterior (the opening now has swung around to the front), usually in early labor.

So don't worry. You've got time for all of this to happen and should not need a cesaerean because of this.

yes today i went for my 36 week checkup and am 2.5 cm but she said because my cervix was so posterior, labor wasn't close. from what i've read, the posterior position is normal until labor...best of luck. try not to worry!

It ability that her cervix is pointed somewhat in direction of her butt truly of pointing greater forward. this is not risky to the toddler, even though it could make it extremely greater good for the toddler to flow its way out. the toddler has to coach somewhat greater and if she's having a brilliant toddler then it could make it harder. If the traditional practitioner did no longer point out the possibility of a cesarean i would not worry approximately it. Cesareans are not that undesirable so if she has to have one, do no longer worry.

well, really your just gonna have to wait till you start labor and start to dialate more to tell. if something isn't changing right during labor is when you will know if a c-cection is nessesary. you still have 2 weeks, things might change. good luck
