That's really hard to say...one woman can give birth to a baby at 37 weeks and have a perfectly healthy baby while the next can give birth at 38 weeks and the lungs aren't mature. Generally speaking anything before 37 weeks is premature and runs the risk of having complications.

In order for a baby to be born and need little to no support with breathing, no sooner than 35-36 weeks. But if you mean what is the earliest a baby can be born and still eventually be considered healthy, I would think 25 weeks or later. But that baby would need an extended stay in the NICU and breathing and feeding tubes to keep it alive. It would probably have some developmental issues initially but could catch up by the time they are at toddler.

Anything before 37 weeks is considered premature, but I have seen babies born at 35 weeks and 36 weeks and be fine, able to stay in the regular newborn nursery and room-in with mom and have no trouble, but that is not always the case, it just depends on how well the baby's lungs have developed, and if there are any respiratory problems or accompanying problems that the baby needs assistance with. Every baby is different, but we like to see the mom be able to hold off until at least 37 weeks.

37 weeks is the best time. Anytime earlier than that, the baby have to be given steroids for the lungs to develop. And baby will have to stay in the hospital for about a month or more.

32 weeks, but the baby's lungs won't be mature and he/she may be a little small. You want to go to week 37.

my nephew was born at 31 weeks, he had to be in hospital for 6 weeks, but has no lasting effects from his premature birth. (actually, he extremely gifted, he's going into a magnet school with multiple language emersion classes!)
Genrally speaking, you want to go to at least 36 weeks.
