Pregnancy & Parenting - 20 January 2007

I watch 2 little girls every other weekend and the younger one who is almost 4 doesn't know her colors, doesnt really know her numbers and can not recognize letters by sight.
I was horrified at this since my 3yr old knows all those and he just turned 3 in December.
Today I worked with her for an hour, doing repetition on her colors and still she just couldn't do it. She has told me she doesnt want to learn.
I've found out the mother doesnt help at all ( that is worse ) and the daycare she goes to is obviuosly not doing their job.

She can't watch tv the rest of the day until she learns the 6 colors that I have been going over with her. How would you tell a parent that they may need to have their child evaluated for a learning disability? I mean after an hour of going over 6 colors ONLY, she should've picked up on it

Any suggestions? or should I just say well her mother doesnt care why shouldI ? But I just cant stand the fact letting that happen

I recently discovered that my newborn is happier in the carseat than anywhere else -- his naps are twice as long if he is in it. He hates "tummy time," but I do put him on his tummy several times each day for as long as he lets me (maybe 10 minutes each time). I'm wondering if it's bad for his development for him to spend so much time (both day and night) in the carseat, though? Thanks for your help!

My best friend is 6 months pregnant and is having a few scares. She has recently been passing blood clots. When it happens she calls the Dr. and she just tells her to go to the emergency room/labor and delivery. Once she gets there, they monitor her and she is just fine and dandy. They just say "if it happens again, come back". Well it has been happening but they don't tell her the possibilites of what could be happening or why its happening. Has anyone gone though this? Also, she had some milky white stuff drop down while she was in the restroom. It happened twice, she went to the emergency room, they did the test to see if it was the amniotic fluid, and it was incunclusive. The stick should have been blue, hers was blueish green.NEED SOME HELP!!

Me and my partner had unprotected sex today for the first time (it's been about 8 hrs since now) and i am worried. My last month period started on the 27th and ended around the 1st. What does this mean. He is in the 95th percentile in height, head circumference, abdominal girth. I am also measuring about 37weeks in fundus height. I know my menstral date was correct. Should I be worried because he is large for gestational age?

my son will be turning one years old feb 3rd..I am so sad!!!! I, also have an 8 yr old daughter..I am starting to want another baby but i know...i can not handle two youngs kids at the same time ..that is why my kids have such a age gap and i love it. How old are your kids and did you feel likt this when they turned one years old? What are my chances of having a girl if i decided to have another one which would not be until my son was, at least 4 or 5 years old..???.

I'm almost 9 weeks with twins (which I know automatically puts me at "high risk"), and my OB wanted me to set up an appointment with a perinatologist at 20 weeks. The perinatologist's office wants to get me in at 15 weeks. Anyone have any experience on what to expect?

Ok... This whole PGcy My Abdomen has been as hard as a rock. It feels as tho my tummy is going to pop at any minute, solid. Uo until now... I got up to get the phone and it felt funny. Kind of limp... so I felt it and it is sqwishy. I can push my fingers into it and it has alot of give.Its the same way below my belly button...
Is it just me?
Did the baby just change position or something?
Does this mean she dropped?

I am High risk due to Incompadent Cervix... so I dont want to call and bother my OB If I dont have to.
33 weeks so she has been head down for a few weeks now.

I done baby sign with my now three year old twins, I feel that it made their life less frustrating. By the time they were 7 months old they were doing simple signs. My son is behind in speech, but is really picking up on new signs at his preschool, he then teaches his sister.

i have another question, sorry for all you guys that read all my questions lol... but i forgot to ask this one in my last question. ok i am currently 37 1/2 weeks pregnant and i have been dialateing and all, i have been haveing tons of lower back pains and tons of cramping, with very few accual contractions, i talked to my doc about the cramping and she tested me for UTI, came out neg. but my acual question was, i havent lost my mucus plug yet and i was wandering if was suppost to loose it at a certain or it i could end up keeping it until i accually go into active labor, or what. my doc has mentioned it to me but didnt say if i was suppost to loose it already... if i can get any help that would be great, thanks....

again, im not freaking out just curious is all! :)

Okay i am in my first year of college and a commuter.I choose to go to a 2 yr college instead of a 4 yr (even though i got into 3 colleges that were 4 yrs)so i could figure out what i wanted to do and be with my bf.My parents feel like i made a mistake by doing this but are paying for my college tuition,i live at home free and most of my car insurance(i only pay 12.50 a week that goes toward it). They have signed me up for barbrazion a school that gives classes for modeling/acting/personal development to help me with self confidence class is 6-9 p.m on thursday .My college classes are monday 11-1:50 in the afternoon anthropology,history friday 10:00-12:50 a.m,abnormal psychology 6-8:40 p.m,and english 11-1:50 p.m.I work for my mom's landscape company as a secratary currently doing only 6-8 hour a week because its winter and only make 8.50 an hour.None of this includes chores.My bf keeps demanding time from me and wants to borrow money that he never pays back.I love him though?

I am 31 weeks pregnant and my midwife tells me that I have high protien in my urine. She says she is not concerned beacuse my blood pressure is normal. Can I control the protien in my urine through diet or is this a normal occurance in pregnancy ? Is there anything I can do to stop is gettting worse or improving it ?

I have a 3 yr old daughter, and she stutters. Ive heard that as long as its not 3 or 4 words in a sentence then shes fine. At times she seems like shes doing it just for show, but sometimes it really seems like shes struggling. I went to my doctor and they took my weirght and I lost another 2 pounds. I eat lots of Rice (I'm spanish so its part of almost every dinner) and lots of pastas, i dont have a seet tooth but have been eating donughts after lunch. Is there anyone who could help me gain some weight. PLEASE any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
