What does this mean. He is in the 95th percentile in height, head circumference, abdominal girth. I am also measuring about 37weeks in fundus height. I know my menstral date was correct. Should I be worried because he is large for gestational age?

95th percentile means larger than most babies at that gestational age. Around 50th percentile is normal size. I wouldn't worry too much about it. At 34 weeks, they estimated my baby at over 7 lbs. He was born 3 weeks later at a hefty 8 lbs and 7 oz. Also, at 28 weeks I began measuring 3 weeks ahead and it stayed that way for the rest of my pregnancy. My baby wasn't super huge but he is a pretty big guy. He's now 5 months old and over 18 lbs. and 25 1/2 inches long. Just don't stress, everything will be fine hun. You'll have a big healthy and happy baby.

I measured 2 weeks ahead in fundus height my whole pregnancy (I too knew exactly when I got pregnant) and my son was born right at 40 weeks gestational and weighed 8lbs 14oz, 20 inches long. The only real problem was that he grew out of all his really really cute 0-3 month clothes within 1 month. He's now 3 1/2 and is right at the 50% percentile for height and 40% for weight. Also, I know that doctors get these still-pregnant measurements wrong quite a bit--my sis had twins 5 months ago and at 36 weeks the doc predicted the boy was 6.5 lbs and the girl was 6.25 lbs. She had a c-section that week and the girl baby was 5.5lbs and the boy baby was only 4.75lbs and had to spend a week in the NICU.

I wouldn't worry too much. He doesn't sound big to me. Of course, I had six ultrasounds with my son because of his "large head measurement." The docs were warning me to be prepared for a 12 pound baby. My son was born at 7 pounds, 10 ounces and 21.5 inches long. Perfectly normal. The percentiles are a range of sizes of babies at the same or similar time frame as you. It doesn't sound like your doc is concerned. Are you small framed? Are you carrying a boy? Sometimes your body type and the baby's could throw the numbers a little. Congrats on the baby and good luck.

I have had both my babies with a midwife so ignore rude comments about that. Anyways, in most cases turning the baby does work and you end up worrying for nothing. It does hurt though. The best thing to do is relax and just let it happen. About the c-section thing, an experienced midwife will talk to you about the risks of both. I don't know if you planned on a home birth (like me) or a clinic birth but I would first consider moving it to a clinic or hospital and see how labor progresses and how the baby reacts. If a C-section is then necessary you do what you have to do. There is no research showing that a SCHEDULED c-section is better in your situation. Good luck and trust your midwife she will help you do what is best for you and your baby.

All babies grow at different rates. There is nothing to worry about. 95th percentile is basically meaning height from head to bum. this is good, jsut bee prepared to have an avarage sized baby. Babies are usually around 7-8 pounds, which is very good. Good Luck and Congrats your almost there.

my friend always meassured 3 weeks ahead towards the end. It just means that you have a big baby.. nothing to be concerned about unless the doc sais otherwise.

My friends baby (but she was induced 2 weeks after due date) was 9 1/2 pounds

no every baby is different. my wife is measureing 40 but she is only 38... yea almost here... my son is in the 10th % but our doctor says hes perfectly healthy. dont wory too much he might be a little bigger than other babys when he comes out but he will grow into his body. my neighbor had a baby in the 90 % and their boy is just fine he looked like he had some extra skin but he grew like a weed. also how long did they say he was. my son is as tall as his 3yo cousin but hes only 2. so dont wory just keep going to the doctor and eating healthy and every thing should be ok.

It is better for him to be big rather than small (for his health). the 95 th percentile means he is larger than 95 percent of fetus's his age. It isn't bad or good really, just a way to measure and compare. If there was anything to worry about your doctor would have told you.

the dr will tell you if you are too small to acutallly birth this child. there is nothing you can do about your babys size. don't worry. just breathe. a fully "cooked" baby is so much easier after birth because they have bigger tummys to hold more food and usually have less issues. good luck. and congrats soo soon!
