I had the same problem. I lost 16 lbs. in the first 2 months. My nutritionist gave me a list if things to help gain weight. First off you can Drink milkshakes (lots of them) I used Carnation Instant Breakfast in the morning with 2% or Whole Milk added a Banana and some yogurt! Ensure is also a good healthy drink that will help you with vitamins and Carbs! Try eating Celery with Peanut Butter, Pasta, Granola Bars. If you are going to do the liquids, I would do them x2 a day. Try to eat more often during the day. Get your main meals in and plenty of snacks. I know this sounds like you are pigging out but if you eat the "healthy" fats and carbs you are good to go. Good Luck.

Don't try to gain weight... I am 37 weeks now and I didn't gain any weight at all... actually lost couple of pounds. I was very concerned that the baby won't get all the nutrition he needs and won't be growing properly. Turned out the baby is big enought {over 8 pounds now!} and my doctor told me that the baby will just suck up all the nutrition from you, so don't worry. Anyways, you are too early and might start gaining weight little later {your baby weights only about 3 oz. now, that is not enought for you to notice on the scale} and if not, wouldn't it be cool to leave the hospital skinnier than before got pregnant? :)

First of all, you need more protein. The simple carbs in rice and pasta do not have high nutritional value. Also, switch to whole grain pasta and brown rice. Drink milk, at least 24 oz a day. You also need to increase your caloric intake w/ healthy foods like fruits, veges, and whole grains. Doughnuts are fine, in moderation. You should be gaining at least .5-1 pound per week now.

Weight gain in the first trimester is not crucial and most women lose weight. Do not eat doughnuts. Its bad for you and the baby and that will catch up with you. You want to gain weight healthy not just be fat. Healther ways to get good fat is too eat different types of nuts and avocado. The oils in them are good for you and you gain weight the right way
Do not add extra stuff like butter, pizza, margarine, burgers and extra meats to your diet. That is bad fat and you will feel worse than better. It can cause you heartburn, constipation and you will end up gaining too much weight
I suggest take pre natal vitamins during the pregnancy because they baby and you will get the vitamins you need when you are not gaining the weight

I had this problem with my pregnancies (i'm 5'6 and prepregnancy i weigh 118). I eat alot, but could never gain and like you, lost weight alot. Don't worry too much as the stress is bad for you and baby..just try adding calories to what you already eat...instead of a glass of milk, add chocolate syrup to it, when you eat plain rice or potatoes, add butter, sour cream etc.
Eating the way you do now is fine if your eating 3-6 meals per day..just trying adding your calories through adding to your food... mayo, chocolate syrup, butter etc.
You will probably do like I do, and gain your last 6-8 weeks of pregnancy..Hope this helps.

Don't eat the donuts. These are just empty calories. Stick to whole grain pastas, fresh fruits & veggies, protein. It is best (Even for people that are not pregnant) to not eat processed/microwave/frozen foods. Frozen veggies are fine. Processed foods contain too much sodium. As long as the baby is growing you don't need to worry too much about the lack of weight gain.

I am 5.5 months and I have barely gained weight. Actually when I was where you are, I lost weight. It is normal. As long as the doc said everything is fine, do not worry. You will gain weight. Just keep eating right.

You're doing just fine, I lost ten pounds and then only gained back 12 with my son and he turned out to be 8lbs 7.5oz. Don't worry too much about it. You can also ask your healthcare provider if you have anymore questions or concerns. Good Luck and Congrats!

at this point, you don't want to gain weight. there is no point in gaining weight until later on. if you start gaining weight now, you will probably gain too much and you just have to lose it later.
