Pregnancy & Parenting - 24 January 2007

I have a job interview today in which I have to do an activity with a group of 2 year olds(other than reading a book) for 10-15 minutes. So I decided to make big flash cards of common items they would know (i have cat, dog, bird so far..) and ask them to name them. I was going to do 20, just to make sure I could fill atleast 10 minutes...but I only have 3 items. Please help! What are some other objects two year olds would know?

My daughter is in second grade and recently she's been having problems with other kids making fun of her, for no good reasons. Its really lowering her self esteem and now she doesnt want to go to school anymore. She's an honor roll student and very intelligent for her age. She uses big words that most adults dont even think of. Could this be the problem? Could these other kids just not understand where she's coming from? How do I help her feel better about school and about who she is?? This has my husband and I really worried. We just want for her to be happy!! Thanks!

I was spotting very light pink/brown 2 days a go. I called my doctor, and though she did not seem overly concerned, she asked that I come in today for some bloodwork. Does anyone know what exactly she's testing for, if I will get results immediately and if she can determine that the baby's okay? I'm nervous. Thanks so much!! (I am 5 weeks pregnant, by the way!)

My daughter is 2 and i have tried everything to get her to start using a cup but nothing works she has to have the same bottle with the same lid and she will only have orange juice to drink if i try to give her anything else she chokes and makes herself sick. I have tried being crule to be kind and just taking the bottle away from her and just leaving a cup instead but she wont go anywhere near it she will go the day without having a drink the health visitor told me to give her cups to play with but that did not work. She goes to nursery a couple of mornings a week and i thought that when i sees the other children drinking from cups she mite start wanting one herself but that was six months ago and she still drinking from a bottle. has anyone any ideas.

Having my period but can i still be pregant?
I had my preiod on like dec 29th and i had sex on the 7th of jan. But now i have a period again? and some people are saying u can get ur period and be pregant like that and its normal?. So could i be
? should i get a test in case? can anyone help me?

and i mean if so why would my period come early some people say that is a sign of being pregant

some people say yes some say no i am so confused..

im 12 weeks now. im starting to worry about the mistakes i might have made in the first trimester. Right after i found out i was pregnant i had a serious lung infection thing i went to a family doctor ( not ob/gyn) he gave me a Zpack of antibiotics. i told him im preg is this safe? ok theres that and then
-1 to 5 cans of diet pepsi a day (depending on the day)
-one time i took one dose of Azo urinary relief tablets
-about 4 times i took pepto bismo before i knew it was not an ok med.
-about 2 times i took Phazyme gas releif pills.
- at least for a couple weeks when nausea was real bad i only took my prenatal vitamin about every other day, instead of every day.
-before i knew i was pregnant i sat in a hot tub
-before i knew i was pregnant i was breathing in aerosol disinfectants at work ( after i foudn out i switched to spray kind only)
ok so is this bad? I didnt drink or do cigs or anything and i was already on vitamins before i even kenw i was pregnant.

Let's cnsider two uncontested medical facts: 1. The fetus is ALWAyS the blood type of the father. No exceptions....if the father is AB negative(for example) , so is the fetus 2. The human body cannot have two blood types at the saame time, you're either A positive or AB negative or whatever. Can't be two. So if the mother is O positive (for example) and the fetus is A negative (for example) that fetus is NOT part of the mother's body. It is a separate human being simply using her body to grow. If you kill it, it's murder.

my daughter is 10 months old and she wont go too sleep untill 9.30pm then she is awake at 2am for milk then she is up at 6am a full ray of sunshine and thats it untill lunch time when she has a little sleep. how do i get her to sleep through the night. i would kill for a full nights sleep! jus wondering how much everyone pays for daycare. we are paying $125 a week. is that to much. she said its the best one in town and my daughter has been on the waiting list for 4 month. i didnt know daycare was that much....oh her first day was monday, and when i went to pick her up that evening, i went in the room and she was in the swing, she looked up at me looked back down., looked back up at me and almost jumped out of the swing. she was so excited and happy to see me. that jus made my day. thought i would share, she is my first child, never thought being a father would bring so much joy, never been any happier

Has what I believe to be colic. Every night from about 4 to 8 she is very hard to console...only by pedalling her little legs to release the gas and by carrying and bounching her can I get her to calm down for a minute or two. She has regular bowel movements up until early afternoon and then doesn't go again until night time, when she goes very often, which I think is the culprit. She has also been spitting up more, even though I burp her frequently during feedings. Thankfully her weight gain is very good and she is not dehydrated, but I still worry. I am breastfeeding and my first thought is to cut out dairy, which my dr said may help, and of which I had eaten a lot of through the pregnancy and the past two weeks. I am starting that now...does anyone have other suggestions for calming and soothing her, or to reduce her discomfort in some way? I hate seeing her like this, she's such a good baby and it's so hard to watch her be uncomfortable :(

I had my baby two weeks ago and since then have had a good recovery....almost all of the baby weight came off naturally with breastfeeding, but my fingers and hands are still stiff and swollen. Is this norma? I want to wear my wedding rings again and I am not sure if I should get them resized or if this will go down on its own.
