I was spotting very light pink/brown 2 days a go. I called my doctor, and though she did not seem overly concerned, she asked that I come in today for some bloodwork. Does anyone know what exactly she's testing for, if I will get results immediately and if she can determine that the baby's okay? I'm nervous. Thanks so much!! (I am 5 weeks pregnant, by the way!)

Maybe your uterus lining still shedding a little (menstrual cycle)
I hope its nothing serious though - but the routine blood test are mandatory around you time of pregnancy to test for various things.

Hi dear. She just wants to test the levels of certain hormones in your blood stream to make sure your pregnancy is alright.
Even if you were not spotting they do a great deal of blood work for every pregnancy.
Most of the results should be in the next day, like the pregnancy hormone ones. It is possible that some may take another day. It just depends on what she orders but the ones that you are concerned about should be in the next day.
Try not to worry. Good luck and I hope that everything is okay.

I've never heard of that...I almost miscarried twicee with my first pregnancy, and they never drew my blood. But I'm sure that its nothing to worry about. Just try to relax and stay off your feet as much as possible. Let me share what happened to me and hopefully it will make you feel better. When I was 7 weeks I worked at a daycare and a little boy kicked me in the stomach I started having some moderate bleeding and went to the hospital and waited 7 hrs and was never seen, I was finally able to get ahold of my dr and he had me come in and he just put me on bed rest and told me to hope for the best. And everything was fine. When I was 13 weeks, out of the blue I started having heavy bleeding and went to the ER agian and waited about an hr this time. As soon as the Dr started doing the pelvic exam she told me that she was sorry, but that she was afraid I had lost the baby. But told me that she would still send me to ultrasound. As they wheeled me past the nurses station, my nurse was on the phone with my OB setting up the DNC, talk about making you freak out.!! But when we went to ultrasound the tech turned the monitor and showed me the strongest little heart beat. My son turned 2 a couple weeks ago! Remember dark blood is old blood! and you are normally safe if you see that. And they don't normally worry too much able bleeding unless you bleed anough to fill a pad in an hr. Oh and another thing the ER doc told me was that sometimes UTI's will cause pregnant people to start bleeding, but your dr will check that when you go. Good luck, just try to relax and not worry. I hope that sharing me experience gave you a little comfort! Alot of times things seem alot worse than they really are. Espically when your pregnant! Because you automatically make things into a federal case! LOL, the stress we cause our selves! Good Luck
