Colors, people, man woman boy girl, Sun moon stars trees truck cars faces;happy sad angry asleep, anmials.... try asking questions with the cards like...moon[when do we see it] truck{what color is it, happy{show me your happy faces} sad {show me your sad faces,... objects are they hard or soft , anything really the idea is not just to get them to identify the object but to describe it and engage them in conversation, make their minds open up, hope this helps i did it with my class. Good luck!

Are these children 2 or closer to 3. Try to remember that not all 2 year olds talk well. Also these children have to be taught to recognize flash card pictures and say the words. My twins are 2 1/2 years old and we just now started with flashcards. This is something i never even thought to do with them until about a month ago. Some of the kids may be unable to name the objects if they were not taught to. Things like "soldier, nurse" ect...people were saying might not register with a 2 year old who has maybe never seen a soldier or heard the word. If your plan is still the flashcards, try to keep it simple. If these children are closer to 3, they should be able to enjoy them more then a child who has just turned 2 for example. Things my 2 1/2 year olds can name off flashcards are:
Bunny, Sun, Dog, Cat, Cow, Moon, Star, Light, Key, Bird, Car,...the list goes on, but keep it simple just in case.
Most kids that age i have seen love music, so maybe sing them something simple like itsy bitsy spider, and show them the movements to the song. See if maybe they can copy them. Good luck.

Flash cards are so age inappropriate for two years olds, I wouldn't do that for a job interview. It also would take no where near 10 minutes to name 20 items.
A puppet show where your characters recite poems and have the kids call out the last line might work. Having a hunk of soft playdoh and teaching the kids how to make snowmen (three balls of dough) might work. You could have a huge pile of blocks and have the kids build a tall stack with you or a cityscape.
Objects for 2 year olds - bottle, ball, baby, mommy, daddy, hat, shoe, moon, star, car, stroller, ear, nose, hand, house, book, tree, sun...

Apple, cup, plate, spoon, car, shirt, socks, shoes etc...good luck on your interview!!!
To expand on the lesson I would make them all fit three categories:
Animals, Things you Wear, Things for Eating
All the kids will probably be able to name most of the objects...but you want to show that you are developing higher order thinking. I would use a sheet of posterboard and contruction paper to make pouches for each of the catergories and after the class names the object then ask them "Is this an Animal?" Noooo "Is this something you wear?" Nooooo. "Is this something for eating?" Yesss! Let's put it in this pouch with the apple on it. Etc...

Some items my daughter knows are:
ball
fish
car
star
moon
flower
airplane
apple
duck
clock
spoon
cup
balloon
banana
orange
sock
mitten
Maybe to add to it, you could make each item a specific color, and ask them what color it is after they identify it.
