My boyfriend and I have been together for a while now and have been living together for over a year. A couple of months ago my boyfriend and myself had a "baby scare" at the time we weren’t planning on having a baby. However after I took the at home test and found out that I wasn’t pregnant I was extremely sad. Ever since then I’ve actually wanted to conceive. i've talked about the scare with my boyfriend and he’s told me that he was kind of excited about me possibly being pregnant but was also relieved when I wasn’t. He’s says that he's not ready for a baby.... but why was he excited in the first place. I’ve tried talking with him and he won’t even try to think things through. What should I do?

It seems each generation of people are more knowledgable than the past but many still use the same stupid 'parenting' techniques? Why do so many parents spank, bully and demean their children to 'show them who is boss'? If would-be parents took the time to read and learn, they would learn about how to raise respectful, well-behaved children who are secure and confidant without belittling them and 'putting them in their place' but also without spoiling them. I'm not saying all parents do this, and I'm not saying anyone can ever be a perfect parent, we will all make mistakes, but I'm talking about people who really think slapping, yelling and calling their kids 'bad' is the best way to teach them how to behave. They really think that is what's best. I think they should teach kids in highschool about parenting so that when they grow up they know what to do. I'm sure I sound obnoxious and I don't mean to, but everytime I see a little kid being called stupid or slapped, I feel so bad.

Im 17 and madly in love with my fiancee of 1 1/2 years. We already have our wedding almost planned out and everything. I have these feelings like I need to be a mother now. I have taken care of my neices since birth and I love it. I know I'm only 17 and not married yet but I so so so so badly want to be a mommy now! Is this bad or good? We aren't trying to have a baby, its just if it happens it happens. I might be pregnant now. Seriously, is this a bad or good thing? What is going on? Why do I feel this way?

I like strong sounding bold names, not trendy or fluffy names.

Examples of names I like : Alexandra, Adrian, Eric, Donte, Tonya

Names I don't like : Haley, Jaden, Kayla, Emma, Madison

Just throw some names out there, but leave out those popular trendy names.

Son is 18 and a freshman in college. First semester resulted in 2 Ds and 4 Fs. His goal in life is to do the bare minimum required to "get by". He wants a good life, but is unwilling to expend any effort whatsoever toward achieving this goal.

She's ten months now, I'm just curious for future reference...
At what age will she be able to:
Sleep with a blanket and/or pillow? Ride a tricicle? Play on a rocking horse? Ride the coin-operated rides inside stores? Use a fork and spoon on her own? Drink out of a cup without a lid?

all right ladies and gentlemen....lets begin again.

this is not about telling you how to raise your children.

this is about enlarging our realizations for to assist with those of you who have ideas which are now not healthy for raising children or within other relationships.

lets take our time....there is no hurry....you are not commanded to respond but i would like to hear your notions if you are prepared to hear my own.

thank you

My husband left this week for Iraq and my 3 year old who has been potty trained for 2 months (and has had no accidents to date) started peeing in his clothes 3-5 times a day. I realize this is somehow related to his stress with the situation. I have tried pretty much everything: Being nice...Being upset...Offering an incentive if he does not pee in his clothes...Praising him when he goes in the toilet and asking if he needs to go several times....Nothing is working. I want to handle this the best way possible. Please let me know if you have dealt with this situation and what worked to stop it. Thanks.

I got divorsed over a year ago. My ex moved out of state and rarely calls or visits my kids. This has been (understandably) extremely hard for my 7-yr-old. His dad calls and makes promises that he doesn't keep, he calls maybe once every 4 months. Sometimes he will even blame his irresponsibility on me. What can I do to help my son cope? He already had some psychological problems (not because he was difficult, which he wasn't) and he sees a therapist. He misses his dad but I feel helpless. I have gone out of my way to make the boys accessable to my ex. I offered to let him take them on my holidays, etc (I have full custody.) I can't make him be a better father but what can I do to help my son?)
