well I believe that it is all a matter of opinion. With our first child we didn't find out. My husband wanted to but I didn't. We bought all gender neutral things. We found it very fun not knowing. I had strangers thinking they could tell me what I was having. Some were right of course others were wrong. (Some people get bothered by this but I found it fun) I also had a game at my shower where everyone had to guess the date, sex, and weight/height of the baby. The one who came closest won a prize. I also enjoyed dreams and the guessing of all of it. It was a beautiful surprise at delivery what we had. Everyone then went out and bought pink. This time I am pregnant again and we just found out it is a boy. It's also fun knowing this time because I refer to the baby as his name and not baby. However, if the sonographer couldn't tell I wouldn't have been upset. I also wouldn't want to know unless she was almost certain of what it was. I didn't want to get used to referring to the baby as one sex and have the opposite come out. So, my advice would be if this is your first child see if you can wait. If you are unsure have the sonogram put the answer in a sealed envelope and if you change you're mind you can open it. But, next to finding out your pregnant it is a wonderful surprise. You can wait with this baby and find out on the next one. That way you can see what it feels like with both options.

It is really a personal decision. For our first child, we wanted to know so that we could plan. For our second child we had the nurse put the pic of ultrosound in the envelope and then we opened it together on Christmas day. Then we kept the news to ourselves until the baby was born later in March to tell everyone. If you want the ultimate surprise/rush/trill in life then wait...there are horrible disappointment stories when the sex was found wrong. Happy preganacy, new Mommy!

I think when I'm older (I'm 13 now!) that I will have it be a surprise. It will be so exhilarating for the doctor to say 'It's a Girl' or 'It's a Boy' instead of me knowing before hand.
On the other leg, it would be cool to know before hand so that we could tell people and decide exactly what the name would be, but I like the idea of having it be a surprise better.
Choose what your heart decides-you will be excited either way!

The advantage of knowing is you can get some really good deals when clothes go on sale at the end of the seasons.....just remember to buy larger sizes plus you can go ahead and decorate the babies room.......the advantage of waiting.....we get so few good surprises in life anymore and this is one of the few left

We are finding out this Friday about the sex of our baby. We want to know. People say wait for the surprise but the surprise is the beautiful baby when it's born.

If you don't have any "wishes" one way or another, then I would wait. I wanted a baby girl so bad I almost cried when the Dr. said it was a boy during the ultrasound, but now that I am preparing for a boy, I am okay with it and actually excited to be having another boy. I needed to know!!
Does that make sense, I hope it helps

I don't know , but I'm a curious person and I would want to know...maybe if you guys find out and keep it a secret from everybody else it would be a surprise too....and this way if you know what gender the baby is then you can start deciding on a good name....but really it's up to both of you....Congrats!!

SO many pros and cons.
The way I look at it is; after their first word, first steps first everything there isnt too many surprises left in life.
I dont want to know the sex of my baby, until the very end when I have him or her in my arms. Its one wonderful surprise that will only happen once (with that child).

There are two of you, you know. One of you find out now while the other waits to be surprised. :)
***IMPORTANT EDIT***
Actually, recent research has indicated that sonograms *may* impact neural development, so if that's how you would find out the sex it would probably be best if you only did so if the sonogram were necesary for some other reason. Don't get one just for that.

I say find out before hand..Its soo much fun to wait for that one ultrasound and gets soo exciting...once the ultrasound tech says would u like to know your heart just stops..its a great feeling..plus,knowing beforehand u can buy the things your baby needs in the specific color and sex,,not just unisex..u can pick out names specifically for that baby, plan big things..even have a baby shower, that way people will know exactly what u are having...If u really dont wanna find out then dont but i think its well worth it,i found out my 2 beforehand and planning on it with this one too. Good luck!
