I have my one year old neice at my house with me and I do not have a crib or anything to put her in but she needs a nap, I do not want her to fall out of a big person's bed but if I stay in the room with her she will not sleep...any ideas on how I can safely make a bed for her?

Lay some blankets on the floor and lay her on them. Nothing fancy, just don't put her on anything high up unless you are laying right with her. If you wanted to put her on a couch or something like that, then make sure you pad the floor with pillows just in case she rolls. But I would just place her on her back or side on the floor with some blankets.

Definitely a pallet on the floor is the best choice, but there are a couple of things you can do to help her fall asleep easy enough so that when you lay her down, she won't be likely to get up and roam around. Be sure before the appointed bedtime, 7-8pm is always good b/c babies need 12 hours sleep, take her for a good walk to park or a stroll, play and have a good time. Bring her home, feed her a good nutritious dinner that is warm to the body, then give her a nice warm bath. Keep the activity in the house low key. I promise, she'll asleep prob. before you get her dressed in her jammies. :) diannatriplett@yahoo.com

If you have large pillows you can surround her with them in a box shape. Or push the bed to a wall and add pillows to the other end.
If you do this keep checking in every now and then, 1 year old are very active and could possibly fall even when they have a lot of support.

I would put pillows around her and some on the floor just in case she moves the pillows, or you can lay down layers of blankets on the floor to make it soft for her to lay on. My daughter loves doing that at night to sleep.

Just put some blankets on the bedroom floor and have her sleep on the floor.

Does the mom have a pack n play. These are portable playpens and work great as a bed at someone elses home.

Like LT said suggest the pack and play-a portable crib. If the mom doesn't have one then check your local consignment shop(outgrown items) that way you don't need to buy it new.

If you want something softer, you can try a couch cushion on the floor with a sheet

Blankets on the floor will be just fine.
