Pregnancy & Parenting - 25 October 2006

They have slept with us since they were born. They are now 3 an 1. They are getting too big to sleep with us and we need to have our privacy. I have tried to put them in their own beds but they usually wake up terrified and end up sleeping with us. Any suggestions?

My hubby and I are trying for our first baby. I swear I am having pregnancy symptoms but home tests come out negative! I was supposed to start my menstrual cycle four days ago! Could I just be stressing myself out? I feel tired and sick all the time, but could I just be freaking out? I usually start right on time, but I hear stress can throw it off? I wish a test would just come positive and I can stop freaking out! Has anyone gone through this?

My daughter goes to a private preschool (church school), there are thirteen kids in her class, a teacher and a teachers aide. I just got her school pictures back today and am rather upset about them. The mornig of pictures I took the time to do my daughters hair, put pigtails in and curled her bangs. In her picture she only has one pigtail in, I know that to expect her to keep it "perfect" until pictures is alot to ask of a three year old, but with three adults (teachers and photographer) would it have been to much to ask for one of them to either put the other pigtail back in or take the one that was in out? I mean she looks silly with one side up and the other down. I usually wouldn't be so upset, but these were her first school pictures. Now I have to pay thirty dollars for retakes. Which is more than I paid for the package that I purchased. I am just fuming right now and am tempted to call the school about it. What would you do?

Im 10 weeks pregnant and in the mornings. I feel hungry but cant hardly eat. Or feel like I lost my appitite. But I can eat regulary and alot though out the day. just not in the mornings. Is this normal? Or should I contact my doctor??
Also, I experienced light brownish blood I guess after sex. No cramps or anything. just when I wipe u see it but its very light.
Should I be worried about this or is this normal??

With both of my boys, I had natural births, With my first one, It was all said and done so quickly that I didn't regret not getting one, My 2nd labor was a lot rougher, Consisted of feeling ALL of the contractions, And having to walk the hospital halls from 9:30 am-5:00 pm, But afterwards, I was able to take myself to the restroom and get up and walk around and such, Even went down to the cafeteria for some dinner....I'm contemplating asking for an epidural this time, 'cause I've heard they pretty much take away ALL of the pain, Was just wondering, If, after an epidural you're still able to get up and walk around afterwards, And does the actual needle going in hurt really badly? (I don't do so well w/needles) also, When should I ask for one? I did ask for one with my 2nd baby, But she said 'Let's break your water, and if you don't progress anymore, We'll give you one'...Well, She broke my water, And I had him immediately.

What milestones should my 5 mth old son be doing...I know every child is differnet but I just wanna know what are some things he SHOULD/COULD be doing. as of right now he doesn't "do" anything. He has rolled over before on accident, he plays with his hands (mainly in his mouth) I read he should be playing with his feet, but he doesnt know he has them yet. he doesn't get much floor time cause the floors are all marble there are no carpet/rugs/blankets to put him on. Should he be rolling over? starting to sit up? I don't know please let me know summin! Thank you

I've been on birth control for the first time for 2 months now. The first month my period came as planned even though I know sometimes you can miss your first period. Now in this second month I am 5 days late. I never missed a dose and have always taken it at the exact same time everyday. I took a home pregnancy test yesterday but it was negative. How come I got my period last month but not this month? Could I be pregnant?

One of my really good friends is having a baby shower this Saturday... and I have no clue what to get her. It's her first child, it's a boy. I have about $50 to work with and I want to get her something special. I can't do anything personalised or make her anything since I just don't have enough time before Saturday. Personally I think if you pay taxes then you have every right to use the programs offered when you need them, but then you have stupid people, and I won't say any names, who take advantage of the situation. I don't mind paying taxes so that people who fall on hard times will be able to provide for their families or for women who get pregnant unexpectedly, but I feel like it should only be available to those who PAY TAXES as well. If they're not paying for it isn't that in the same catagory as stealing from the rest of us? It makes me so angry that some (not many but a few) women on here don't take any initiative to help themselves but expect those of us who work to pay for their children.......What do you guys think?

My son is 5 wks old and lately WILL NOT sleep unless I'm holding him - even throughout the night. He falls asleep (seemingly sound asleep) & as soon as I lay him down, no matter how quietly,slowly, or gently I do it - he wakes up fussing. I am getting very little sleep & nothing done (like dinner, showers, homework help) & I feel bad because I am afraid the rest of my family (2 girls ages 14 &12) are not getting any attention from me because I am always having to hold & tend to him. He's also very colicky (which has gotten better since switching to lactose-free formula). My husband & I have tried everything - feed him, change him, rocking, put him in swing, vibrating bouncer, car rides, bouncing on exercise ball, swaddling ... still cries when I put him down. Co-sleeping scares me to death (my husband is a big guy & moves around a lot). So today In desperation I laid him down, left the room & let him cry - & in less than 5 min. he was asleep! Am I bad for doing this?? HELP!!
