I had childhood asthma but have long since outgrown it. The only time i have breathing problems is when i am around cats, which are the only thing i am allergic to. Would this allergy problem affect me joining the military?

With war on the cards with the United States and now most probably UK as they have more troops and more money now their pulling out of Iraq is only a short time away, which will give them chance for War with another country(What!, Again). Are we closer to war with Iran than ever before? But with all the warnings from France, UK, US, Germany (4 hugely powerfull countries) and other countries that they are ready for war with Iran why in there right mind are they carrying on in this way! I know if i was their president i would be scared as hell, and would stop. I am predicting a war very soon, but the US and UK may set of nurclear missales from there Nurclear Sumbranes in Northern Scotland,UK(Trident missiles can reach Iran from North Scotland) becasue this war is going to be much harder than Iraq to win, but i aint sure. Are we close to our first Nurclear war or even a war at all what do you think??

My boyfriend won't be going in to basic training until next year, but of course im getting pretty worried a head of time. along with my fear that he's going to come out a different person (with all respect, Im really not attracted to the stereotypical military attitude, atleast in a husband).

Also, we dont really believe in the whole idea of legal marraige, which also causes a problem with just about...everything. I'm afraid that, because i wouldnt be recognized as a dependent by his job, i'll end up just being this crazy lady with no health insurance that follows him around the country.

will he be placed in bachelor housing? will i never be able to live with him because i wont be in the housing allowance? thats pain that i don't know if i could deal with...we are inseparable at this point and i dont know what id do if that was the case...just living on my own, him visiting me, and living on base by himself.

do you think this is what i'll be doomed to?

The fact that US sacrifice in Gulf War I ended with Kuwait being such a role model for Middle East democracy gives me hope we will reach the same goal with Iraq in Gulf War II. Doesn't it make you hopeful?

Alright, I've already asked folks on here what to do about my lie at MEPs. Well I'm not going to get into that again. Instead I'm going to tell it like this. I don't care whether the Navy finds out that i lied for not. I would rather serve honestly, than to serve dishonestly. But let's also get the record straight, I told my recruiters EVERYTHING, I NEVER intended to lie. That's why i told them everything, I'm a god-fearin, southern boy, I work hard and I don't care for lies or anything of the sort. But every recruiter insisted that I lie. Even my friend who is submariner in the Navy right now told me to lie, and I figured they must know something that i don't, like a military code or something, but oh well. I followed their advice and I have been scared ever since. I can't go to my recruiters, They already know everything, I need to know where to go if my recruiters don't want to change the fact that I lied. If the recruiters won't fix it, who can I go to next? I live in marietta, GA.

Until last month, neither the US nor the UK had a National memorial to honour all their service personnel killed while on duty since WW11. The British solution $14.2 mil monument inscribed with 15,530 names was formally dedicated on Oct 12 in Central England, The National Memorial Arboretum. The unique feature, all members of the British Armed forces killed since 1945 whether in training, on exercise, on operations or in battle is honoured. At exactly 1100 hrs Nov 11 as the UK falls silent for 2 minutes on its annual act of rembrance, a carefully placed slit in one of its walls will allow a beam of sunlight to shine across its central plaque. The British memorial was conceived by retired RN Comd David Childs, who was inspired by visits to Arlington, so partially inspired by that visit would it be fitting if Britain’s all encompassing memorial serves as a prototype for an American, covering all campaigns and non campaigns, or would it be too complicated a task to gather every name ?

My husband will be joining the Marines soon and I was wondering if my daughter and I will recieve any housing allowance or other benefits while he is at bootcamp. I read on About.com that we would but his recruiter said we wouldn't. Is there a different website where I can look more into it?

Why? Many of them didn't decide to go their or had to go because of financial problems. But some did to defend this fine country and YOU and your family from being destroyed. Also people think war should stop, and I think that to. But it will never stop. Even if all countries said "no more fighting" we would still stock up on weapons and keep our military. Because everyone knows someone will be born, take control, and attack another country. Or someone will want another country tooken care of and since their would be no real defense, would take it over. But if you want our troops to come back right now go ahead! Although I can't wait to see the looks on your faces when they come into our country :)

The case of Lt Michael Blassie in 1998 grabbed national headlines. Blessie an Air Force pilot was interred in the Vietnam War memorial, but enough artifact and record evidence existed along with the availability of a family mtDNA reference sample, were enough to persuade the DoD to exhume the remains and perform a test. The results confirmed his ID and therefore no longer an unknown Warrior. The case set a precedent, leaving Vietnam vets in a vacuum, how could any sets of remains fill the unknown soldier space when some evidence might surface later to ID them. With all the advances in science how can any future tombs for unknowns be used. In future the only unknowns will be service personnel never recovered then you would have an empty tomb. Your thoughts? Is it now a defunct practice? Need for something different?

when they hear news about (the supposedly Christian) George Bush's military buildup/spending, his creation of Iraq's Civil War, and his intentions to start a war with Iran?

Where are all the religious leaders who supported him? Do they not stand for peace with Jesus?

Solders are usually given an enlistment pay, bonus, when they are badly wounded they cannot finish there enlistment and the Bush Administration is asking these solders to give back some of there enlistment pay.
