Have you heard that the vest our military provides is not the best. Dragon skin is. But our military did one of those no bit contract things. Owner must have been a friend of someone who works for the government. Have you also heard that if the government spends a small fraction of the military they could save the lives of most of the solders lost. Something to do with the roadside bombs.

Is anyone working on solving loss of tail rotor function from RPG's as seen in the movie "Black Hawk Down"? I've wondered this for many years, whether or not it's possible to design a system whereby tail rotor loss of function could be minimized by some kind of emergency jet propulsion in the tail section to produce the necessary thrust for safe control of the helicopter or by directing engine exhaust in a sidewards manner much like an engine reverse thruster to minimize or eliminate torque thrust. I'm also wondering why the military does not employ the NOTAR system in combat zone helicopters to mitigate being brought down by RPG's. Any helicopter engineers or pilots wish to comment?

Why does the US Military have so many different combat uniforms? I read that every service now has a different version. You cannot say each service has different uniform needs, because they are all fighting in the same enviroments. Other countries have universal service uniforms, and they work out just fine. So why so much variety in the US?

I am trying to find information regarding the days leading up to Army Ranger graduation for the purposes of making travel arrangements. Do Rangers who successfully complete the third phase have any "day passes" or free time prior to graduation to spend with family? Are the Rangers dismissed from school immediately following the graduation ceremony? I'm trying to figure out how soon prior to the ceremony and how soon after I should make travel arrangements.

Thanks so much!

Ok, so im pretty sure i want to join the Army National Guard.
but im undecided if i want to list when i turn 17 or if i should wait, and go to college first then join. Many people say that i should go to school first because i will have more opportunities and such. Which i also agree. But then again i want to join so badly and as soon as i can so idk. i know i should go to school first because i have a lot of potential and i will be able to occomplish more.

Anyway i need some input from those of you in the service. which is the best way to go?

Thanks!

One of my friends just got back from Marine Corps boot camp(he didn't graduate he just told me he got kicked out for medical reasons) and he said that the DI's could hit you when outside of the barracks. He said one of the recruits got 4 cracked ribs by being hit by one of the DI's. I know the DI's can't hit you no matter what, but do they still do it anyways? Just curious cause I leave for bootcamp June 1st.

Iran insists it has an inalienable right to pursue enrichment as a means of generating electricity for a growing population a possible cover to develop nuclear weapons. Tehran's UN envoy Ali-Asghar Soltanieh insisted that enrichment would not be suspended. Looks like Iran is say bring it on tough guy, that being the USA but the other guy in the bar that being Israel might strike Iran a punch first before the USA has a chance and what a mess that would turn into. You can just imagine the response from Iran if Israel bomb its nuclear facilities. Has I write this patriot anti missile batteries are being shipped to Israel and other parts of the Middle east where the USA have interests, US troops are massing on the Iraq/Iran border and the US Marine expeditionary force is on route to the Persian Gulf. It might be good old sabre rattling, that's not going to work because Iran wants a full scale war with the US, Israel and the European three.

I really want to join the National Gaurd, but my parents are against this due to the fact that I am an Egyptian Muslim. They think I would be fighting "my people" and I don't see it that way. I think I would by being a translator I would be building a bridge between two countries.

What is your honest opinion on this?

As stated - "The lessons are only the eternal ones: that wars won’t be fought as believed and won’t end as planned, but that adaptability, self-critique, and persistence, in an effort believed to be both right and necessary, will eventually prevail." It's great the surge is working beyond expectations
