I'm not a dude, so no turning my head and coughing.. but.. I do remember an exam! LOL but again, like everyone else said.. the exam is certainly the easy part of the military! If you are that concerned with the medical exam, ya might just wanna stick with the boy scouts. A doctor won't be the only person seeing your stuff... those community showers aren't so much fun, not even for us girls! =) I can still shower and be ready in about 4.5 mins tho =) Hubby likes that when we are in a rush! lol

They don't give it a thorough once over but they do cup the balls and have you cough. They'll probably also have you bend over and touch your toes so they can check the back.
It's all pretty routine medical stuff...your doctor should have already done some of it so when you're in a room (behind closed doors) with a doctor, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Trust me, the less of a big deal you make about it the better off you’ll be. Hell, you’ll have to shower with some of those guys for a while in boot (or summer-camp depending on which branch you’re joining ;-))

It's not that big a deal really, but yes. Trust me, yours will be only one in over a hundred they'll see just in one day. Nobody cares, and that's a fear you really should get over. Obviously you didn't play sports in high school - I had to get hernia tests yearly since I was I was 13, so it really didn't matter to me when I went through. It's no different from taking a shower around other people, which you'll probably have to do if you join the Army or Marines (the Navy and Air Force are a bit more spoiled, so they may get stalls - I don't know).

Yes!
I had to do the turn your head and cough thing plus another thing or two for Sub screening. But for me it was enjoyable, was 5-6 weeks into boot, and she was an attractive lady who conducted the physical. But since than (1996) it has only been Sub Med Doctors, who unfortunately are only men.
Its nothing more than you would get for a sports physical in HS, don't sweat it.

basically get an total actual out of your established practitioner. if you're below 21 you don't want a pap smear. make confident all of your images are up as a lot as now, you've not any bone or joint complications, of route that you aren't any further pregnant, no std's, in case you are able to have your information the teeth pulled earlier going into bootcamp till they're thoroughly grown in.

Dude, if you are a dude, then you have dude parts just like every other dude. (I like the word "dude"). It's not a big deal, they do a hernia check and make sure everything down town is good to go. No dude likes to be handled by some other dude, unless you are a dude who likes other dudes. It's 1 minute of your life that you can forget about for the rest of your life.
Be proud of what you got, it's all yours, if anyone makes fun of you, just call them a homo for looking. Who cares what other dudes think.

Yes. They have to know if you have any venereal disease or a hernia. No way to check for those things otherwise.
As you get older, the physical includes a prostate exam as well.

Yes, it is not really a big deal though. The person who does it is a professional doctor. I was a bit freaked out at first, but the doc was nice and all. He just held your sack, told you to cough. Then told you to spread your butt cheeks for like 10secs.. I believe it has something to do with hemeroids??
At least when he was doing it to me, it was just me and him in a room.

Funny, your screen name is "risktaker", but you're afraid to have a physical?? Wow, if you're afraid of taking that risk, what kind of risks do you take then?? Rolling out of bed?? Seriously, when you go through MEPS, they do a hernia check (turn your head and cough), and every 5 years you have some "glove love". That's about it.
