A military career is not for everyone..... but the path you have chosen will destroy your life...... report back......take your punishment......and serve your time......
Take everything one day at a time.....your ordeal will be over before you know it......my first year in the military I had NINE article 15's and a summary court martial......I was not a happy soldier either..... but I swore an oath.....I served my time.....

I watched so many young men follow the path you have chosen only to be punished the rest of their lives....
You will likely have nothing but menial jobs the rest of your life.....my father was a brilliant man who chose your path.....and missed so many opportunities......even though he was a talented cartoonist.....Walt Disney would not hire him because he was DD from the Navy.....He worked bone crushingly hard all his life and still ended up poor.....a good brilliant man punished for a stupid decision he made as a youth..... turn yourself in ,son

You might want to reconsider that,if you get a bad or dishonorable discharge you won't get any Veterans benefits or get any government job, that includes local, state or federal and other job opportunities with other places would be very small. No other benefits either, unemployment and the list goes on.If you have some kind of problem except for not wanting to be in the Army any longer it MIGHT help get you out with a general discharge and you could still get the mentioned benefits, but GOING AWOL IS A CRIME and at company level it is two weeks extra duty and restriction to quarters and could reduce you in one rank and lose of some pay too.Any longer then more severe penalties can HAPPEN including the stockade.

Straight up - if you remain AWOL for a total of 30 days, you'll be declared a deserter. We are at war, and the military can - although they won't - execute you as a deserter in time of war.

Looky here - go back to base. Report to your CO. He will restrict you to the barracks until you have an Article 15 hearing. If you've only been gone AWOL a few days at that point, he'll keep it at company level, you'll get a week of KP and a $100 fine, end of story.

If you stay gone much longer, you go to battalion or regimental level, and then you're talking a special court martial, and probably brig time and possibly a dishonorable discharge. A dishonorable discharge will dog you for the rest of your life. You'll never become somebody.

Go back. Do it now. They aren't going to beat you up. If you really want out, meet with the JAG's office and discuss ways you can end your enlistment contract. They'll be happy to help, and will give you the straight scoop.

Good luck.

Listen, private. :)

I know training sucks - it's hard and they're mean and you just don't want to be there. But I'm sure you've heard, "Oh, the regular army isn't like this," from your drill instructors - and believe it or not, they're right!

I wanted to quit during training, too - we all did. You got up the courage to leave, so get up the courage to go back! If you stay AWOL, things will be so much worse for you than if you go back.

Going back, sure they'll be typical drill sergeants and give you crap about it, but deep down, they get it too - surprise - they're actually people (sorta ;) ).

If you remain AWOL, you'll not only have them looking for you, but you'll lose everything - they'll freeze your bank accounts and you will never be eligible for Social Security - EVER.

However, if you go back, you'll hear about it for a while, maybe get an Article 15 (but when you're doing extra duty you've got the opportunity to b.s. with your friends and sneak off and smoke cigarettes ;) ). When training is over, you're off to your duty station and I promise you, you will have a BLAST!

It can't be much more than a couple of months - so just give it one more shot. You CAN DO IT! I'll be your supportive battle buddy. :)

You need to draw a line under this as soon as possible... it's one of those things that gets worse the longer it goes on.

You need to report back to your camp, and with luck this can be dealt with administratively under barracks or camp discipline, the Camp Adjutant may not even bring formal charges.

You don't want this to follow you for the rest of your life. I don't think the Statute of Limitations applies under the American Code of Military justice.... so you would still have this hanging over your head 20 years from now.

Do you realize that the longer you stay away they more likely the charge is to be desertion during a time of war? Which could get you executed or at least sentenced to life in prison. Turn yourself in now before it's too late.

Turn yourself in the longer you stay AWOL the worse it will get. Go to the nearest base or police station.
Why did you join if you didn't want to hang in there?
Don't worry you will get your discharge now and it will haunt you.

............

question for you, did you or did you not take an oath to defend the consitution of the United States, by God and country you swore that oath and signed a contract knowing full well the consequences. You can either be imprisoned and fined or maybe just a dishonorable discharge, which cant even land you a job at McDonalds, so HANG IN THERE.
