Specifically for submariners. I know there is special tests to get to be one to begin with. But is there any mandatory screening done before returning to sea duty after having been a few years on shore...to to make sure they are 'fit'
thanks

My boyfriend of 5 years has joined the Navy and is leaving for boot camp in August of next year after he finishes his masters degree. He wants to go through BUDS to become a Navy Seal.

He wants us to stay together while he is gone and is 100% certain that he wants us to get married (we wouldn't get married before he leaves for the Navy since we are both still very young and don't want to rush anything that might not work) and live happily ever after. I definitely want that too, but I feel that four years in the service will take a huge toll on our relationship. I know I won't be okay with not knowing where he is or what he is doing for weeks at a time or if he is safe, as well as not being able to call him whenever I want, etc. Also, I have read that Navy Seal marriages have only a 15% success rate...which doesn't give me much hope.

Can anyone with a similar experience or knowledge on this topic help me out? What would you do if you were in my shoes?

i'm looking for information for a memorial of my grandfather who was a marine in world war II...the easy thing would be to ask the question from my family, but i'm wanting to keep what i'm doing a surprise...so...

i know that he was in the 3rd division and everything i've looked through and can remember him talking about says
3-K-9...does anyone know what the three letters/numbers stand for? obviously the 3 is the division and i'm guessing the K is the company?

any help is very appreciated!

I just ran across an article about silly string in iraq...what are your standings on this topic? i think its an intelligent idea, its an old toy---something fun back in the days---but a great idea to use for our troops overseas.

What are stopping nukes and missiles from hitting the U.S. and other countries? If you hit them with the air defense and the nuke is too close, won't it just kill a lot of people?

100,000 Uzis?!

"Last week, two Utah men were arrested for allegedly trying to sell parts over the Internet for F-4 and F-14 fighter jets — which are only flown by Iran. ...._Pittsburgh company SparesGlobal, Inc., was sentenced last week for lying about exporting equipment used in nuclear reactors and ballistic missiles in 2003 that ended up in Pakistan.

_A man in California pleaded guilty in August to trying to smuggle 100,000 Uzi submachine guns and night vision goggles to Iranian government officials.

OK I know the US military can't handle anyone with a weapon greater than a fork, but do they have to be so wreckless...murderous...and kill little children too? Maybe the US should outsource the military to India.

With the situation involving Iran, I was wondering what exactly is needed to make a nuclear weapon? Could terrorists make nuclear weapons if they found out how to, because if all it takes is materials and money, they already have money and the materials would be easy to get from Iran.

I'm in my first semester of college and it's been my plan all along to do ROTC so I can become an officer when I graduate. I know this might sound dumb, but tonight I watched United 93 and it just got me so angry that i'm not sure I can wait any longer to serve. I'm considering enlisting in the Navy when the semester is over. Any advice on what I should do?

My son got out of the military after serving his 4 years.
Three years later, after a marriage and a newborn, the military recalled him. His prior MOS was a Topographer.
They changed it this time to Infantry. Is that fair?

I totally understand the concerns that a terrorist or a bad person might join and commit terrible crimes but with an extensive background check, why is that not enough, and who's to say that American citizens and green card holders can't be terrorists and commit crimes inside the military?

there are many people that really want to join including myself but because they don't have a green card, they cant join. the US military is very thin and if a green card wasn't required I'm sure there would get many more recruits.

Is there anyway the Army/military can do an extensive background check and let me join?

I know it's mandatory to have a green card to join, but if there's any exception to that, please let me know, thanks

If the democrats piss off Turkey, they will close the back door to Irag and make the war almost impossible to fight. You have to admire a brilliant chess move even if you don't agree with it.

I had a defect with my kidney when I was younger, and I had it removed. I know for a fact that this is a disqualifying condition for joining the military, but I'm curious if I could get a waiver for it.

So, is there a chance that I'll be able to join the military? If so, how slim are those chances?

I know we had more than 4 million (does anyone know how many soldiers we had in WWll?). In Iraq, we have like 250,000 soldiers. How come we don't have more soldiers? And also Afghanistan? Why aren't we taking those measures that we took back then now? I believe we could've won these wars if we had more power. And why isn't the US doing more research for weapons and stuff, like WWll?
