I totally understand the concerns that a terrorist or a bad person might join and commit terrible crimes but with an extensive background check, why is that not enough, and who's to say that American citizens and green card holders can't be terrorists and commit crimes inside the military?

there are many people that really want to join including myself but because they don't have a green card, they cant join. the US military is very thin and if a green card wasn't required I'm sure there would get many more recruits.

sure, security concerns/possibilities of spying are top reasons why, but who's to say that American citizens and green card holders can't be terrorists and commit crimes inside the military?

a nutjob citizen/green card holder can easily join the military and commit crimes once he's in.

It is illegal to stay in the US for more than 90 days without a green card. So, it's impossible for non-citizens to join the military without a green card. If you're serious about joining the US military, contact a recruiter and see if they can help you get a green card.

it is NOT a right to serve in the US militray,it is a privilege. You want that privilege, then prove you deserve it by getting a Green card. The US military is not a free ticket out of whatever country you came from. There are regulations for a reason. You don't have to like them or agree with them, but that's not your call to make. the military has standards, period.

and even though only 50% of all US citizens qualify for military service, guess what.. we don't need you! Despite the news reports to the contrary, the military is NOT in bad shape.

I have known several people in the military that are not citizens. People that are coming to the U.S. for the first time to join the military. I work with someone right now who is a citizen of Pakistan and not an American citizen

They probably want to make sure that people in the military have allegiance to the United States and not any other country. It might bias how they act in certain situations. Also, if you didn't need to be a citizen in order to join the military, theoretically you could join the militaries of two different countries and act as a spy.

Without a green card you are not allowed to work in the United States legally. So why would we allow you to work for our government. Let me see if I get this you think we should allow to join our military, pay you to defend our country and pay for your and your dependents medical & dental care. Why would we? Maybe because you have no reason to care what happens to our country. You have nothing invested in our country. You can't work here legally so you don't even pay taxes.

If you want these privileges maybe you should have came here legally.

After reading your update I glad that you are here legally. We tend to assume you're here illegally because so many come here that way. I guess it's because you are here as a student.

It was once no one checked genuine properly. besides the indisputable fact that with the countless incidents the place 'unlawful extraterrestrial beings' have been killed combating for his or her observed u . s ., militia recruiters will deliver an inquiry to the INS to ascertain that the eco-friendly Card is valid. there are a number of militia jobs that are closed to non-US electorate (commonly all of those that require a protection clearance). on the different hand human beings serving contained in the militia are 'quickly tracked' to grow to be electorate.

Federal law. It'd been on the books for over sixty years at least. Long before all of the current brouhaha about legal and illegal immigrants hit the fan.

Anecdotal evidence is that people wishing to migrate to the US but who have no skills are permitted to join the millitary to gain residency. for some of us living in the US is a dream that isn't granted from birth so we go about it the best way we can. don't despise us because we weren't born there, just remember you weren't born here and don't know what our lives are like!!
