It's difficult to keep people in combat positions, it's not so much the combat that scares SEALs and Green Berets it's the fear that they'll be brought up on charges for doing their job.
I've only talked a handful of SEALs, but they all had this gleam in they were eye as if they were Americas few remaining hopes. But ask them about the newest Marine/SEAL/Green Beret that's come under public/morality/legal scrutiny that gleam quickly fades into stories about how they've served their country honorably and if America doesn't want that service there are plenty of chances to get out and get a civilian job that pays four times as much. (Yes, even at 6 figure salaries they are still taking a pay cut)
I'm sure if the media and Politically Correct police would get off their backs it wouldn't take 6 figures to keep them in. Fact of the matter is, we need them and we've mistreated them
I'm no SEAL, but my job currently offers a $60,000 dollar retention bonus. All that money won't mean jack when, God forbid, I mistake a civilian for an insurgent and wind up on the six O'clock news as the medias newest punching bag or badmouthed on Yahoo Answers as a child killing monster.

Well people need to remember the jobs that these people are doing. Giving up years of their lives for our freedom. I know that people think the war right now has nothing to do with our freedom. I have given up over half of a 6 year marriage to the war and now I am about to give up another 15 months. Yes we raised our hand but there needs to be an incentive to keep giving up time we will never get back. Also if people don't raise their hands then umm let see does anyone want a draft?

Special Ops troops are put into the most dangerous situations. The SEALs are put into potentially hazardous situations for long periods of time, Delta basically goes to hell and back again with the best record in SF history, but to keep these standards, monetary bonuses are appreciated!
Of all seperate groups of the military, I have the most respect for Delta and SEALs. They've got a damn tough job, and the liberals are trying to make it tougher by making stupid deals about important matters.

These are the cream of the crop of the military that risk their lives day in, day out. Most have served their country close to 15 years +. Yet the bonus they are being offered raises eyebrows, while the millions a year an idiot bouncing a ball makes is ok in America? Where the hell are our priorities as a country?

I think its a good thing. It literally costs the US Taxpayer millions to train one Green Beret or Navy SEAL. Letting these guys walk away is a poor investment of that money. $150,000 is nothing compared to the cost of the 2-3 years of formal training and years of operational experience these men have.

I think that with the kind of training that these people have they should not be able to use it without government supervision.
They are by any definition I can think of potentially dangerous without that supervision.
