And how do you propose to take the guns off the enemy?

Say pretty please with sugar on it??

Another moronic idea hits the dust.

Not until we don't have enemies. You can't lead this world by extreme example, or even moderate example. Everyone has to be led around slowly, deliberately, or else bad things can happen.

There will be no way to get rid of all guns, barring robot soldiers coming to everyone in the world confiscating them, as far fetched as that sounds. Someone will almost always have a weapon, and to make sure that criminal or rogue intent does not gain undue advantage over the forces of law or 'good,' a necessary evil must be kept.

As far as out troops go, we need to finish the job. What does that mean? That means leaving Iraq to its government and everything there staying mostly the same. No power struggles folks. And yes, progress is being made, check the NY Times.

The first part of that question is the dumbest question I've ever heard. Did you happen to take a history class in high school where we learn that as an American we have the right to bare arms? Do you not watch the Family Guy or the Simpson's? I know it sounds crazy but they have had shows telling us what the world would be like if we got rid of guns. Now I know that billy the kid really wont raise for the dead to kill us all but the thugs and crack heads will.

Then, people would just start using bows and arrows and swords again. Take them away, and people will use clubs. Subtract that complication, and you've still got fists. Take those away, and the human race is screwed and the martians win.

Out of the 6.5 billion people in this world, all it would take is for one person to know how to build one, and then anybody who wanted/needed one bad enough would still get it.

I'm all for getting our troops back to the states, but only as a sign that we've completed our objectives and are heading back with honor- not to show the world that we've suddenly become pacifists- that's just asking a military superpower such as China or Russia to invade us.

No!
No!

What does one have to do with the other?

When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.

We have the right under our constitution to bear arms. If you start editing the constitution where will it stop? Answer it wont.
Besides outlawing guns will not cut down crime because the criminals wouldn't give up their guns anyway. However it would turn good, law abiding citizens into criminals because many of us wouldn't give up our guns either.

Sure, but you'd never get the Bad Guys to give up their guns, so the Good Guys still need them.

Sure. And we all ought to be rich and good looking, as well. But sometimes it's a good idea at least to visit the real world.
