you are wanting to leave the Navy and join the Marines? Can it be done? technically, yes. Will it be easy? not so much. for one,the Navy has to agree to let you go. as an HM, that's iffy, they are still hurting for bodies, especially Greenside bodies. Although every Reserve HM slot for FY 2008 has been full, so maybe the AD side is doing better too.

Two, the Marines have to be taking OSVets. are they? If you are already Greenside and serving with a unit, your chances may be higher,a s they have first hand experience with you.

All you can do is ask.

You can speak to your command about breaking your contract and getting out early to switch to the Marine Corps. Your other option I'm sure your already aware of is to get FMF qualified and serve with Marines as one of their Corpsman and still be in the Navy. How long have you been in for? If you go to Field Medic Service School and go FMF Corpsman then you'll get the best of both worlds. Good luck to you what ever you decide.

It has been the law for over sixty years where one can move from the Navy Hospital Corps to the Marine Corps and vice versa. You need to speak to a Navy Counselor at your current duty station. But, be advised. You will be switching from HM-8404 to a Marine MOS of 0311.

First talk to your command career counselor. Then talk to a Marine recruiter or go to a Marine Corps base career counselor. (might be call USMC retention team)

I think it can be, I'm in the situation of going to the USAFA, and if I want to fly for the Navy or USMC I've been told I can get a transfer. So I'm not totally sure, my guess is yes you can.

Use the chain of command. That's why it's there.
