If the democrats piss off Turkey, they will close the back door to Irag and make the war almost impossible to fight. You have to admire a brilliant chess move even if you don't agree with it.

No, Turkey has been very apprehensive from the start, in spite of their considerable efforts that they had put in during the initial invasion. The Democrats, realizing that Turkey is on the verge of backing out entirely was a smart observation on their part, but they wouldn't try to mess with the US military, ESPECIALLY not the Air Force after what they did to Saddam in the first Gulf War.

Even if Turkey did close their border, the Navy could still operate from the Persian Gulf or Aegean, and the Air Force still maintains substantial FOBs throughout Kuwait, Europe, and most of our bombers launch out of the USA anyway. (Gotta love the kind of range we can get off those things)

The Army and Marines may have some minor problems, but since we've already begun planning to withdraw small portions of troops within the next several months, Turkey would probably just wait out the next couple years quietly.

If the US conducts its
affairs solely based on
what or what not might
hurt our allies feelings
then we better just hang
up our super power status
and give Turkey are full support.
We can start by letting them in to
Iraq to kill the Kurds.
I believe we should do whats
right and pass the Armenian
genocide bill and also give
Turkey a little advice about
the outcome of such a desperate
and inappropriate move on them
to shut the boarders to our US troops
will get them...
Turkey or any other country
doesn't control the US yet, lets
not give them the power to.

I'm sorry but everyones over-analyzing this. The Armenian-American community has been lobbying for DECADES for official Genocide recognition. Half of the democrats didnt even want to pass the resolution... the ones that did, have Armenian constituents... I dont know if I believe that this is a deeper conspiracy to end the war in Iraq.

The thing was called Genocide, denied by Turkey despite proof it happened, until Turkey acknowledges the fact it occurred then their will be no place for them in the E.U. so they cant afford to get p i s s e d off with anybody.

Yes it's pretty obvious they are trying to get Turkey to close down the air bases.

The Dems are vested in defeat and won't rest until they get it.

Do you think that the redeployment of the U.S. Military in Iraq will be the end of the war? They will continue to attack until only one is left. I know that they believe enough in their cause to die for it. I know that I do. Do you?

Tricky, aren't they? It was a brilliantly stupid move. (We need all the allies we can get, in peace or war.)

Don't worry... It will all be resolved soon. Turkey is just putting on a show so that we give them more money for our bases and airspace privileges. Thanks for nothing Dems! You just increased the cost of the war. But you didn't stop anything. How was this a productive day for America? Thanks! I will be sure to vote you out next time around.
