I should have clarified this earlier---the silly strings are used to DETECT TRIP WIRES around bombs....play time? ---ha, funny. This is to save lives, not play time for our troops. They do have their silly moments, boys will be boys, but the "plastic goo" will do more than just silly, fun-time in a can.

Everyone should ship some to the troops. Along with the wet wipes. That silly string is saving lives. Good to see the Corps is still following the age-old formula of improvise, adapt, overcome.

The use of "silly string" to detect trip wires on mines and booby traps is also used by British Forces, great to see a toy having a dual purpose use.

Just like the condoms pulled over the barrel of a soldiers weapon to keep the sand, dust, water out of the barrel, if you pardon the pun!!

To the guy who thinks war shouldn't be fun- HEY do you think these guys aren't serious when on duty? They figured out a long time ago that even when you are serious you can end up dead. Lighten up a bit give them silly string or water fights or what have you when they are off duty in a safe compound with someone watching their butts.
It might save on the number of burnouts during these ridiculous repeating tours of duty.
