When I was in the Army, we got drug tested fairly regularly, at least once a month. That's why I support legalizing marijuana. We lost a lot of good soldiers to positive THC results. It costs the government the same price as a Deuce and a Half Truck to recruit and train one soldier just through basic training and advanced individual training.
Deuce and a halfs are big freaking trucks. All that down the tubes over a joint.

Drug testing is generally random, although you can expect one if you are set to deploy. You may also be expected to take one if you are attending certain courses or taking certain exams (usually concerning medical or mechanical fields).

There is no way to know when or if you will be called in for testing. If your name is pulled, you will be expected to show, even if you are off duty at the time. Once there, you will stay until you have provided the needed sample. You may get called three times in three months, or not get called for almost a year. You can get called while at work or pulled in on a random stop at the gate or traffic check point. There really is no way to know. The best and only way to be sure to pass every time, no matter what, is to not use...period.

I got tested 6 times in 8 weeks, and now I haven't been checked for almost a year. It's completely random, most of the time. I've known people go for 4 years w/ no tests. I believe they are allowed to do up to 7 in 6 weeks

It is up to the commanding officer. When I was in a tank company we tested 2 to 3 times a month, when I was in a Brigade HQ we tested once a year.

its random, usually based off the last 4 of social security numbers. Sometimes you get picked 3 times in a row, sometimes you can go a long time. Its not worth your career and dignity to mess up and pop a UA.

Depends on your job and security clearance. I was tested every three weeks when I was in the Army.
