nuclear weapon of it's own? certainly nobody's naive enough to believe that iran is in any way more dangerous to world peace than the US, as the recent worldwide opinion poll on which country is the most dangerous to world peace showed, where the US and Iran were right next to each other and far ahead of whole lots of countries.

I enjoy watching shows like future weapons, life on a sub, anatomy of an f-22, etc..., but I wonder if they are giving too much information about the military's capabilities. i have an AF buddy that says most of the tech that is shown is about 5 years behind what's being developed now. is this true? or are these programs a little too revealing?

Many members of the Conservative base have always wimped their way out of service (some havent ie: McCain, Hagel) but others like Bush, Cheney, Limbaugh, etc. I mean, Bush essentially pussied his way out of vietnam by going to the Texas air national guard and not even finishing his service, then when he becomes president he sends the national guard soldiers to iraq, kinda ironic..? And didn't dick cheney cheat his way out of vietnam like 5 times? If we took our 535 members of congress and compare military service, I guarantee you that the democrats have more military service then the republicans.

The conservatives should stop bashing the moderates/liberals because at least they fought for this country while you were all safe on the home front counting your money. If you never had the balls to serve, then you should talk sh**

...for military wives and children to live far away from their husbands while they are serving? That is to say, is it uncommon for a wife and child to stay in Colorado while her husband serves in North Carolina, and potentially overseas?

Is this sort of separation frowned upon or otherwise considered nonsupporting? Is the wife ever judged harshly for not "being with her man"?

I'm 18 right now and I eventually plan to join some branch of the military at some point in time. Just about everyone in my family has served and it's something that I want to do as well. I'm 18 now and I think the cut-off limit is 30 so I have until then which is 12 years. I dont know but for some reason when I join I want things to be different, instead of using the same weapon my dad used over 30 years ago. I always here and see all these concepts of what our military will be equiped with in like the year 2015 and so on but it's 2007 now and I don't see anybody with vizors coming over there face giving them an HUD of all there surroundings and there squad. Also how much longer are we going to use the M16/M4 weapons?? I know they are excellent weapons but we have used them for a long as hell time right now. When are we going to switch over to a gun like the SCAR Assault rifle or the HK416? Anytime in the next 12 years maybe? I would be a hell of alot more excited to sign up if so.

Do you have to be a US citizen to join the National Guard? I've heard National Guard soldiers referred to as citizen-soldiers, but I didn't even know you had to be a citizen to join. I'm pretty sure you don't have to be a citizen to join the active duty Army because they have a program to help active duty Army soldiers become citizens. If you don't have to be a US citizen to join the National Guard: 1. What percentage of its soldiers are not citizens. 2. Why are they called citizen-soldiers?

How are they treated? Or I'm afraid that US prisoners are executed on the spot. Further, US soldiers are charged with murder in our courts when they kill Iraqui civilians, and here comes a dumb question. Are the Iraqui insurgents also hold accountable in courts when they kill US or civilians from other countries? I don't hear any outcry from the US government and the American people regarding treatment of US prisoners.

i think that the leadership in congress and the white house are using the troop reduction as a diversion . the sooner the iraqui security forces can assume a greater control of their country , the sooner our troops can move in to iran . will the uk commomweath forces , now in american soil be able to assume a greater role to protect our nation from future shiite terrorist when our troops invade iran? there are 2 executive orders , one from bush that brought in the commomwealth troops to step in our natioanl guards homeland duties , and the other from the second clinton administration that created a us-mexican border joint chiefs military command to be activated in case of emergency . look at the national archives . when you ask the uk commomwealth troops about their job, they will say they are only training .

I have been talking to soldiers, marines, and others about the 'contractor's army'. Some say they are good, some say they act outside international law and military law to protect U.S. 'business interests', ignoring the Geneva Convention. Some say our guys cannot get the job done. Some say Blackwater contractors have better equipment. Some say they use military equipment and are under military orders. I can find no concrete evidence at this time for any one of those arguments for or against. What do you think? Does anyone have more information? I have seen that they get paid a lot more than real soldiers. This made me concerned, with some military moms on food stamps, because the wages are low. I am also concerned whether armed men such as these will replace our regular US Army and National Guard, underdermining the true security of the United States. I do not know if we can trust people who will kill for money and not for democracy's sake...though I myself do not want Iraq war at all.

Do you think there is a good possibly I could be accepted to the US Air Force Academy? I am a sophomore in high school [I am a year ahead], I am homeschooled, I have a 4.0 GPA, I am taking advanced studies [aka Honors program] at the local community college [because my high school does not have a honors program], have OK eyesight, run, and take keichu-do [a form of karate, I am in the intermediate level]. I am thinking of joining the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program. How much does the CAP Cadet Program cost? Would it improve my chances of being accepted? Thank you for answering.
