Jeez man, I wonder how your country's tanks got blown up by those "fire crackers" from Hizbollah.
lol.
Merkava the best tank? No, not necessarily, even though it is highly advanced.

how do you know about the zolfaqar tank?
maybe you should look into that tank a little bit more.
hizbollah didn't use katyushas to blow up those merkavas.
leave it to you to find out yourself.

The German Leopard 2A5 Tank
The British Challenger II Tank
The American M1A2 Abrams Tank
All use the same 120 cannon and ammunition. They are all three considered to be in a class above the Main Battle Tank designs of the former Soviet Union, those being T64, T72, T80 and T90. The T64/T72/T80/T90 series of tanks are based on the same basic vehicle and 125mm automatic loading that permitted a three man tank crew. While a major step forward in Russian tank design they have to date proved to be no match to the present NATO class of Main Battle Tanks.
The Zolfaqar has been classified as a light tank making it somewhat obsolete in concept; Light, medium and heavy tanks classications were eliminated by the MBT (Main Battle Tank) which is capable of operating in all three roles. The Zolfaqar appears at best to be late 1950's or early 1960's style tank development. The roadwheel - support roller arrangement looking a great deal like the American M48/M103 tanks.
The Israeli upgrades made to American and British tank designs as well as they own designs appear to be superior by far. In actually tank battle against the tank designs of the former Soviet Union the Israeli have beat the opponets hands down in most situations.

each of the great 7 have similar defense and weapons. The Crew and training seem to be more important. Fielding is quite the factor as well. The Israeli's have a great desert tank. the US and British Modifications to their tanks designed for war in europe had some early issues but are very great indeed. The Chinese and Russian tanks suffer from technolgy issues but make up for them in ease of repair in the field considering they usually suffer from Logisical support. As for your Statement about blowing them up , remember the tank is an Offensive weapon Not designed to be the best defensive platform.

I would say the Abrams or Merkava. The Israeli tanks are crew oriented with safety functions, air purifiers, reactive armor. It was designed to protect the crew first and foremost. The Abrams is obviously battle proven - so that is a plus there.

That would be really hard to say, each of the top 6 tanks have their strength and weaknesses. You ad to much amour, you gain weight and slow the tank down. If your gun is the biggest, it might cost you performance somewhere else. Are you going to fight in the desert or some hilly terrain with streams and trees? How important is reach with the fuel you carry and top speed? I would say the Leo 2 and the M1 are the top ones, but very close followed by the rest.
In real battle, experience and terrain can be the decision maker.
For any future WW, tanks will have no tactical value whatsoever. That war will be decided by drones, missiles and result of first strike (first hour)

I'd hazard to say it's the AMX-56 Leclerc Tank.
The French military considered other leading tank designs at the time - the M1 Abrams, the Merkava and the Leopard 2. While the rejection of all the designs probably had more to do with a French insistence of developing their own weapons, they did study those designs to find out which strengths and weaknesses could be included and discluded in a tank of their own design.

Merkawa is the world best and its hundreds time better than other tanks made by USA and Israel. The hizbollah is really smart to blow 149 Merkawas with Katyosha missles that are garbage.
But the tank that never blows up is an Iranian tank named Zolfaghar. Its exelent!

The world's best battle tanks were deployed to the Mediterranean sea region in the summer of 2000. There were four M1A1 tanks and I was the platoon commander.
"Ironman" platoon was the best in the world.
