What is a Ranger in the army? What do they do? What are the qualifications?

The Air Force recruiter says I can take college classes in my spare time while stationed at any base in addition to my active duty job/training. He says I can walk away from the air force with a degree in a subject entirely different than the job training I do for my military active duty job. Is he just selling me or is there truth to what he's explaining to me? I really would like to join either way. But I need to know if I can trust what this recruiter is telling me. Plus education, along with serving my country before i'm too old, is important to me after all. Thanks.

I had a drill sgt in basic tell me that college teaches you how to let others think for you while the Army teaches you how to think for yourself. Being in basic training, I thought that statement was stupid. The older I get and the longer I stay in the Army, the more that statement becomes true to me.

Just wondering if I am on active duty in the air force, will I be able to access the internet? Do they have computers on all bases? Can I bring my laptop on base? What are the rules on this topic?

Do you know someone or know someone who knows someone who died in the Air Force? Please feel free to share if you know someone who passed away in a different branch too. Specifically though, i'd like to know if you know of anyone who has passed away while serving in the Air Force.

My fiance is in bootcamp right now for the Navy. and he will be going to A school right after. He is a Machinist Mate (MM). He wants to pick Japan for his first choice. We are planning to get married after he gets out of A school during the time he gets off before he goes to the next duty station (14-21 days). Assuming that he gets stationed in Japan and we get married during his vacation time... will I be able to move there with him?? Or since we are getting married after he is done with A school, will the papers not show our marriage yet???

I believe it is still in its test phase, and critics say it is ineffective in most aspects... but from my POV i think it is to be aptly labeled as the "fighter of the future".

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than the enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit. My rifle is human, even as I am human, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy. - Marine Corps Rifleman's Creed.
