mechanics? why is that? I might want to do that. The fact that it's dangerous won't stop me, but I just want to know more about how it can be dangerous. Getting sucked into the propellars dangerous or suicide bomber dangerous...or both...lol.

I was a Foward Observer for Field Artillery ,among other things, during the war in Iraq. We had 2 ETACs from the Airforce to help coordintae the close air support.

Thats probably one of the more dangerous jobs an Airforce soldier can do. They considered those guys Spec Ops for some reason. They got the cool toys to fit the mold too....Why couldnt I get a full auto M-4 with the bells and whistles too?

chkibo2000's answer was right on.

Yes, when he says mechanic, he means anyone working on aircraft .

Imagine being on top of a jet or bomber in Janurary after an ice storm, trouble shooting a wiring problem.

Yes, people do fall or slide off air planes while working on them.

Jets and bombers also have about 2 trillion sharp corners and edges that you always seem to find the hard way.

Ordinance Handling or Disposal , that means stuff that is poison, goes boom, or both.
Helicopters never did seem to be safe.Stay out of them and out from under them.
Aircraft Paint Removers, that is some junk that is not sold to public.
Airborne Recon, them guys are just nuts.
SpecOps, see above

Obviously any job that involves being in an airborne plane, and also flight deck technician. You don't want to get run over :-(

I always found flying a bombing mission over Hanoi was rather ... shall we say, exhilarating.
