Not all soldiers are saying yes to this war and do have a friend fighting and listened to him cry as he is getting ready to leave for his 3 round of duty, leaving behind his twin daughters whom he has only seen twice.

Alex I do see your point of view, but this is different. Times are different and I have yet to meet a person against this war who would ever lower themselves to spit on a soldier.

chkibo I do not think she is saying you are stupid or your job it pointless. You are a very selfless and brave person for doing what you are doing but our problem is that I do not want you, or other fathers and husbands to risk your life for a war that is unjust. Your life is more important than this war.

This was a very good question you must be a very smart lady I live in a place were i see soldiers everyday my children go to school were over half the kids have a parent or family member in the war it is very sad.
I can be for my soldiers because they
choose one of the most selfless jobs i can think of and they would die for me and my family
people that they don't even
know if it came to that
they are brave men and women
the war that they are fighting is endless and pointless
They are being told that they are helping these people but most of these people don't want us there and would kill are young men and women.
I think about what i tell my three kids if your not grateful for what others do for you they will stop just what i think we should with this war

No rational person wants war, little lady. Not even the soldiers who have to fight it. As it happens, my political leaning is toward the Republicans and to an extent I agree with your "No to the war, Yes to the soldiers". The problem is that NOTHING is black and white. Not even an old photograph. There are shades of gray and that's what reality is, shades of gray. If war there be, then support that decision and do so strongly so there can be a quick conclusion to the war. Examining why the war was initiated is Monday morning quarterbacking and serves no purpose to anyone except those who love to complain. I was in my prime when Vietnam was the issue. I watched this nation being ripped apart by people who didn't really know what was happening. In that one, America wound up laying the blame on its warriors. Very sad. Some Americans actually spit at returning soldiers and called them baby killers. Nasty time. In reflex, I damn near killed the one who did it to me. Fortunately, my higher thought processes won out that day.

Let me try to explain this to you using a different example.
Your Significant Other tells/asks you to do some particular lengthy task for him, and relays the fact that it is of the utmost importance for you to do this task. Then, after you have worked long and hard, bled from the fingers from hard work, he casually comes in and says "OH, Nevermind. but thanks anyway", plops down on the couch with a beer and starts watching porn. So, you are left there, putting on your band-aids, wiping the sweat from your forehead with no sign of any appreciation and wondering why the hell you had to quit what you had spent the last X amount of time working on before you were even done.
It is not exactally the same, but very similar. We sent them over there, with the support of almost everyone in the country. Now, half of the country has changed their minds. So, just get them to stop mid-stoke...it is insulting to the troops who have put their life on the line. It is particularly scathing to families who have lost loved ones in Iraq just to change your mind ex post facto...to just throw your hands up in the air and say "Oh, its too hard, nevermind".
I was not of the opinion that the war in Iraq was a particularly good idea when everyone decided to go...but now we are there. Stay until loss or victory. If you are going to do a job, do it all the way - don't peoples parents teach them that anymore?.

Speaking as a soldier, when I hear someone say they are against the war, I hear them say that it is pointless. That means my job is pointless. One reason the war is still being fought is because people enlist and reenlist. Not saying everyone in the military is in favor of the war but we sure are not against it. If someone is in that does not want to go to war, then they should get out as soon as they can. I am sure they knew the military fights wars when they volunteered. Is Kim saying that I am stupid or is she saying I have been brainwashed?

Only 1700 soldiers are on record as being opposed to finishing the job in Iraq. That's less than 0.2 percent of the men and women who have been deployed here. If you don't support the mission the soldiers take on, then you do not support the soldiers, either.

What you are referring to is escalation. When you group several things together and call them one thing. You are saying something is indivisible when it is a composite of several issues.
Several weeks ago someone mentions that it was wrong that an Arab man was given a new trail because the crime was so bad. They combined justice and the seriousness of the crime together. A reasonable person would want more diligence for serious crimes.
Interestingly in the crime case they can be combined when multiple unrelated people can be convicted of the same crime. This would of course be another escalation but one that satisfies the objection I mentioned. This is the slippery slope and we need people like you to be there and act the conscience.

Because the last war we got in to people spat on the soldiers and called them baby killers and other things and gave them all kinds of hell. Based on the past actions of the American people, the republicans have a right to jump to conclusions.

What I find puzzling is that I see Military personnel 8 hours a day and I have hardly ever heard any of them speak negative on this war issue.
I would say 98% in the service feel the citizens of the United States are not well informed and for good reasons. The MEDIA is made this what it is today and our President will not be involved in debates that are classified or on going.

war is what sholdiers do. if you support the man, you approve his profession. . . if you do not approve what he does for a living and act like you like him, you are a hyppocrit. but most liberals are hypppocrits; they prend to be soo self righteous but hate a godly president. they pretend to be so caring , but vote for baby murderers.. they pretend to love justice but rally arround the prison to spare the life of some low life monster..

They don't think that. It's a means of quelling dissent. You tar anyone who disagrees with you as un American. They're wrapping themselves in the flag.
What people need to remember is that there is nothing more American than dissent.
I recently retired from active duty. I *NEVER* thought disapproval of the war was disapproval of me and my fellow servicemembers. Demonstrations are proof that America works.
Hold your elected leaders accountable. Say the things that our serving personnel can't.
