I say why not. An arms race between China/Russia vs. United States of America has now begun. The Chinese have proven the capibility to shoot down satellites. Now the race is on to weaponise space and arm satellites to shoot incoming missiles. Just like the Cold War, the U.S. will come out victorious.

Does anyone else feel really sh--ty about this whole war? I feel almost like it's a sick way of having some kind of population control. I just read that 20 american soliders died today. the third deadlist day since all this started.I am just waiting to see if it's anyone I know. It gives me a pit in my stomach. Why are we sending more troops? Is there not enough room for them here? A lot of why is on my mind.

U.S. officials are unable to communicate with a costly U.S. reconnaissance satellite for the military and intelligence communities launched last year, a defense official said on Thursday jan 19th. Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center For Astrophysics, said the satellite in question could be a classified NRO satellite launched into space on Dec. 14, 2006 from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
Is this a coincidence? Did China shoot down a U.S. spy satellite or an aging chinese weather satellite?

It just seems like nowadays there are a lot of people out there who would cower in the face of a large war where young men were needed. I don't wanna sound "uncool" but I love my country. I'm first generation American and I'll fight anywhere they send me if they needed me. Where are all the patriots?

I have always wanted to join the navy. I know their web site in and out, researched possibilities, and I even have an account. I looked at the sea cadets and really liked what I saw. My father keeps saying that I don't know what Im doing even though I researched the Navy since I was 12 years old and then says stuff like they won't pay for my college even though they at least pay for an associates degree and he acts like he knows what he is saying even though he has no raw proof and is thinking of the drafts during the 70s. I really want to join sea cadets which if you join you have no obligation to join the navy. How do I confront them or should I just ask my mom alone because she is more reasonable with these things.

how intelligent is the military when the soldiers who are unwilling to serve have to serve and people like me who have a criminal background, who want to be disciplined and turn their life around cant serve. my asvab score was the third highest in my school and i am in top condition yet i cant serve because am a violent offender. i want to go and "be all i can be" and hone my aggression into more benificial actions. so i say screw what the government wants.

It takes courage to say that you will not fight -- especially if you are a soldier. As more members of the U.S. military step forward for peace, the peace movement must step forward to support them.

Large numbers are now refusing to serve: The Department of Defense estimates that there are about 8,000 AWOL service members. The GI Rights Hotline (800-394-9544) is currently receiving about 3,000 calls a month.

Most importantly, a growing number of soldiers are speaking out, against the illegality and immorality of the Iraq war and the orders they are being told to carry out. These brave men and women are risking jail time and their futures to stand up against the war.
