Canada and possibly Mexico would be able to get warplanes into the mainland United States. Of course they are friendly nations so there is no real concern. No other counties could have an undetected warplane reach the mainland.
The Germans did not fly to the US in WWII because no planes had that type of range. Today planes can be refueled in the air but during WWII this was not the case.
Red Dawn was pure fiction... No nation could actually invade the US. No nation on earth has the capacity to mobilize enough troops without detection.
Domingochavez-
The US has 12 or 13 active aircraft carriers. ONE carrier is equivalent to the seventh largest air force in the world. As far as I am aware no other country has any carriers that are even half the size of even the smallest US carrier(in terms of aircraft) and there are only about 25 total in the world including the American ones.

The U.S. has significant naval and intelligence resources that would see an attack coming well before it was actually launched. Given that advanced warning, U.S. air defenses would be well prepared and would be able to defend against such an attack. It's possible that a determined opponent would be able to get through these defenses and would drop some bombs on the U.S., but the effect of this bombing would probably be limited.
The Germans didn't have the naval resources to even attempt something like this during WWII. The Germans had no bases of operation close enough to North America to run successful bombing runs, and by the time the U.S. got into the war the Germans were too tied down in the Soviet Union and North Africa to worry about attacking the mainland U.S.

Hey buddy..have you ever wondered why the USA has so many bases in other countries? Well if you dont, let me enlighten you. First of all the people who run the government are so foolish as to launch a war in iraq but also smart to anticipate situations in feature just like the one you just asked. Yes they can shoot bombs to mainland usa...but they cant fly planes from their countries to mainland USA. That will only happen the day Americans deny God and accept satan. Again if one such nation makes even an error to send trops across to mainland USA....before their souls return to their home land, American flag will be flying over their capitals. The troops stationed abroad, in places such as italy, germany , japen, kuwait, saudi arabia, turkey, and others not mentioned here are not for stationed sake or for show of force. Lets talk about the navy.....presently if i am not mistaken there are about 35 aircraft carriers.....of which the USA is deploying 25...China has none....to launch such an attack is not kissing a girl for the first time in your life, they have to be prepared for the consiquenses..and big brother USA has the upper hand. And if you dont know, the USA navy airforce is the 7th largest in the world, ofcourse you know the US airforce in the world. Know what this means? The navy alone will stop them. If you bring the full force of the USA nation....then the world will shake. Can you please tell gay people stop making God angry?

dropping bombs may be possible one time with a single plane or two, MAYBE, but a large group of planes would be spotted and intercepted. After that the US would be all over any flight coming near it's borders. An invasion, no. That many ships or a ship just filled with troops would be suspicious, just as any troops built up near the Mexican border or Canadian border would cause suspicion. Germany did not do it during WW2 because they had their hands full in Europe and could not even invade mainland England even though they took the British Channel Islands. Japan was likewise tied up in China and Asia, that is why they only bombed Pearl Harbor and did not invade Hawaii. Please do some research about WW2 when you have questions about it.

If 19 Arab hijackers, that could barely fly, could assume control of and fly 3 of 4 planes around the eastern half of the country for hours, then I would have to say that we have little or no air defense to keep enemy aircraft from attacking us.
Since no one involved with the failures of our air defense system on that day has been held to account, I am forced to surmise that we are no more safer today than we were on 9/11, because these same people are still running the show.
Fighter and bomber range prevented Germany from going too far from their most forward base and protected the US from an attack on her soil.
All that said, with the current administration's apparent desire to use nuclear weapons, any country that launched a military attack against the US mainland would very quickly find itself ruling over a nuclear wasteland.
Bottom line any country with a military could mount an attack on the US, but could not likely successfully complete or maintain an invasion. It would be hard to supply troops without a country left.

At this point in time, it would be extremely difficult for enemy planes to get through the network of radars and satellite imagery currently protecting the U.S. without alerting anyone. In World War II, German forces did not have sufficient long-range bombers to mount such an attack; they attempted to develop a rocket that could have delivered a warhead to the east coast, but the war was over before it could be completed.

Your looking at this wrong. An invasion of the US would be different to invasions as we know them. It would be a special forces operation to start with. Damage infastructure, plant bombs in stratigic positions, place weapons stores, undercover work. It would be a long non violent procedure to start with and involve only a small number of people, entering your country unknown and with no paper work ( it can be done and special forces would be able to doit with ease ). People who are against government would be seeked out and attempts at getting them on side would happen, high ranking US officials would be watched constantly until their day to day activities were known perfectly and then mass assainations would take place removing the US military and governments high ranking figures making organistaion and deployment of the miltary slower and giving the invaders valuable time. At this point when the country is in dissary airstrikes would take place whilst anti - aircraft guns are less likely to be opperated by anyone. Land forces would arrive by amphibious landings during the airstrikes to more confuse the US military and rapid movements inland to major cities and military bases. By now the US miltary would be more organised so the element of suprise would be gone but the key here is enemy forces would be occupying US soil and the US arent going to bomb their own cities or the country would be bankcrupt. As for US citizens fighting back that would stop as soon as a few thousand were killed within a few days and they kill very few if any enemy soldiers. Remember soldiers train for this type of stuff so it would make no differnce if the person was military or civilian when invading a superpower like the US.
I personally dont think there are many capable of this with the exception of Britian and Israel because as i said special forces and secret agents would play a massive part and as everyone knows Britain and Israel have the best on earth. It wouldnt take much of an army or airforce once land was occupied like New York because it would cost trillions of $ to repair damage.

Not unless they want to risk nuclear war. The U.S. has dozens of subs patroling the oceans that can launch about a hundred nukes, plus they have some in space, on bombers, ICBM's... it would be suicide for any country to do that. However, there are other ways to bring a country to it' knees..... but, good luck figuring that out.
germany and japan tried to do this during WWII and were successful on a small scale. check out the history channel some time, they always have something about WWII.. and I recently saw the episode about this subject.

I'll answer each question one at a time. First of all it is technically possible for all the countries you listed to attack us, but we hold an extreme amount of power to counter strike. All these countries may want to attack us in the future, but in order for them to live in peace and stability they can not. We have nuclear weapons that we can launch in a counter strike. Nuclear weapons was what stopped the United States of America and the Soviet Union from killing each other, because they both knew they hold mutual destruction, if one country launched a nuclear weapon on the other, the other country would just destroy them. Germany did not want to attack us in World War 2, because they were still fighting in the European front. They did try to sabotage us.
