Cool question. Always nice to see a hypothetical 'what if', instead of the norm.
Before I say what I would use, I would first like to say that it is unlikely that America will ever be invaded like the movie Red Dawn thanks in part to the Second Amendment (the right to bear arms). Why? I think there are at least 12 guns to each American.. and that number is staggering compared to the rest of the world. So, while the majority of our military is away, the 2nd Amendment keeps foriegn invaders at bay.
Now, I would arm myself with a fully Chihauhua loaded Paris Hilton (the annoyance factor alone would damage them enough to put them into a psychosis stupor) and ride in the battleship USS Rosie O'Donnell - she's got an Iron gut and nothing but gerbils are going to pass through her colon.
Actually, I would take my personal arsenol (20 gauge single, .45, and my WWII 8MM) up to the dakotas and look for wolverines. ;)

Full bio suit, probably what would keep me alive- everything else can be made or found later on. Survival is the number one priority in resistance, everything else comes second. You would be surprised what weapons could be used/ or developed from a resourceful person. Also to note, you can only carry so much ammo, gasoline, etc. I do not plan on taking my enemies head on, but out into the woods, the creeks etc and make hell for them. Also a good water filter might help (:

A Sat-Com Radio. The most Dangerous thing in the world is a man with a Radio. He can call for Air Support, Tell Higher where the enemy is, arrange supply drops ETC
Barring that and a lack of support?
A decent pistol.
With that you can get a shotgun. With a shotgun you can get a rifle. With a Rifle you can get a Semi-Automatice Rifle. with that you can get a....... ETC ETC
There are no Dagerous Weapons only Dangerous people.

my winchester 30-30 lever action and my walther g-22 with plenty of ammo
my reasoning is that my winchester is the most trustworthyweapon i have ever owned or used it never jams and has a lot of nockdown at close to medium range the walther because its never jammed its accurate and its got a laser sight a red dot and a flash light on it
and since im in south dakota ill probably want my savage 223 bolt action i can pop a prairie dog at 500 i can take an enemy soldier way farther than that great for on the plains

Without a doubt, a Browning .50 cal. machine gun and spare barrels and 2 semi loads of bullets at least. Alternate; an AK-47. They always work.

That would never happen, but I would wan't a M4 with M203A1 grenade launcher attached, or an AK-47.
Or a a SAW mounted on a humvee ( I'll be shooting while my buddies are driving).
I hope that never happens to the U.S or any country...

My Jeep Wrangler equipped with 4 60" plasma TVs so I could drive through the enemy ranks with "The Pest", "Dumb and Dumber", "Dumb and Dumberer", and "Brokeback Mountain" playing simultaneously and at full volume. That should kill a few invaders.

A .22 rifle. I can pack a lot of ammo and head shots out to 300 yards are lethal.
