The more literal versions say murder, not kill. Remember, the Bible wasn't written in English, it was translated from Greek and Hebrew (mostly).

familiar & President Dwight Eisenhower. WWII? Colonel and President Teddy Roosevelt grow to be a coarse Rider interior the Spanish American conflict? Genral & President Ulysses S. grant, American Civil conflict? there have been various of presidents interior the defense force yet as for truly "commanding". No...on a similar time as IN place of work??? President James Madison grow to be in place of work during the conflict of 1812. He grow to be truly there whilst the White living house have been given burned down. So, i could say he grow to be truly "commanding troops interior the sector" in his very own front backyard. demanding question. i'm uncertain what the article meant or if it grow to be splendid.

Thou shalt not kill is an issue of the heart. If someone accidentally hits someone with their car, did they break the commandment? The Bible says that if you hate your brother, you have committed murder. But you can follow an order in war, submitting to your authority, and not be a killer if you did not hate the one you killed. Render unto God what is God, and unto Caesar what is Caesars.

I've always pondered that question myself at times. Then I heard someone ask a Reverend that question and he came back with some bullsh*t about God holds no punishment for those who are only defending themselves. Then he was asked, but what if you are not defending yourself but ordered to attack someone else? Then more bullsh*t about giving unto Cesar what is Cesar's.

I think the key is for some Preacher/Priest to always have the last word even if it defies any logic. They get inside many of the troops heads with that kind of crap. Then walk away leaving them just as confused as they were before about it. Then some NCO comes along and screams in their ear and gives them some extra duty for bringing the question up. So the troops don't ask it again.

Christian or pagan, the military is there for one reason. To defend America and carry out the orders of the commander in chief,(President).
No military member ever wants to take a life and hopes they never have to.
Just asking the question you ask, shows your lack of knowledge about life itself.

It may seem contradictory, but God wishes us to remove injustice from the world, and the only way it may be possible is "by the sword". Generally, God is supposed to be the one to follow if anyone, but it is also good to follow authority when their command is just.

(Rusty also contributes to my point as well, what with the 50 cal example)

Gee another person that has never read a bible, been to church, and takes biblical statements out of context (that they heard on TV) and thinks he/she is wise.
