U.S. officials are unable to communicate with a costly U.S. reconnaissance satellite for the military and intelligence communities launched last year, a defense official said on Thursday jan 19th. Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center For Astrophysics, said the satellite in question could be a classified NRO satellite launched into space on Dec. 14, 2006 from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
Is this a coincidence? Did China shoot down a U.S. spy satellite or an aging chinese weather satellite?

They shot down an old Chinese weather satellite. The U.S. has over 400 hundred satellites in space, more than any other country combined. Maybe when they shot it down, the millions of pieces from the destroyed satellite hit one of our satellites. You never know. Or maybe it was the decepticons!

Are you saying that U.S intelligence have lost a important military satellite and now it must be someone else's fault .Well I wouldn't be trying to star a fight with China if you cant win in Iraq you wont have much chance beating them especially if you keep losing reconnaissance satellites

I fairly trust u. as that's a undercover agent satellite tv for pc it could have extreme end optical units to take relatively magnified photographs a technologies that they dont decide for enemies to get. yet while the satellite tv for pc falls on land it relatively is going to explode into products so there is not any factor of retrieving something. On 2nd situation, may be actual. usa wont decide for to fall in the back of in area weaponry. Given there stance on chinese language shooting of satellite tv for pc they cant pass on sorting out anti-satellite tv for pc missiles so they needed this cap to objective it. yet nevertheless they may be top on their area and it is going into those unsolved questions till some conpiracy theorists arise

My dear it was their own satelite...not a USA satelite. It was just a message to the USA in protest to the rapid us space exploration and the theater missle defense system. Spy salelites dont need to be over a country , they can spy from any angle.....Dont vote for the clintons, they gave china the missile technology they are using today to shoot satelites.

Chinese shot down their own stuff, United States was able to see the debris and even protested that it could be dangerous for nearby satelites.

Perhaps they did. If so do you blame them? If it was over their territory they have just as much right to protect themselves as we have to protect ourselves. And don't be surprised if we go to war with China faster than expected. I hope not but as humanity has demonstrated, war is the normal course of development.
