It just seems like nowadays there are a lot of people out there who would cower in the face of a large war where young men were needed. I don't wanna sound "uncool" but I love my country. I'm first generation American and I'll fight anywhere they send me if they needed me. Where are all the patriots?

I would re-enlist right now if they would take me.

And there is nothing wrong with you. It is a normal response for people who love their country to want to defend it.
Even though I am a 4th generation American, I still find it extremely cool to love your country and to want to put yourself in harm's way to defend her.
Oh, and for those who think that only the illiterate and uneducated fight in wars, I have a B.A. in Liberal Arts, and a B.S. in Paralegal Studies. My brother volunteered for Vietnam and he has a M.A in Art History, and my husband served two tours in Vietnam and he has a J.D. and an LLM.

You should join because you believe in American ideals and you want to do your part to serve the United States and the world. This may include being in a large scale war, but that should not be the main reason for you to join up.

Your first question is not racist, but some of the other stuff you said is. Like " Mexico is a poor and corrupt country." Well, America is a rich and poor and corrupt country. We as a nation seem to focus on the little things and maintain a very myopic vision of the more important problems. To much Fox "news" stirring up stupid things like immigration, gay marriage and illegal prayers in public school etc. We should be talking about IMPEACHING the law breaking president and his cabinet of venomous no good nicks. Also getting out of this religious pseudo "war" for oil, greed and money!!

It's good to read about a patriotic young person, I was worried the liberals had taken over. There's nothing wrong with loving your country and Americans are proud of their patriotic sons and daughters.
God Bless,

Nothing is wrong with you, the urge to protect for a right and just cause is why many people join. But this isn't a just cause...

Regardless of that, you need to keep in mind that you want to VOLUNTARILY join. All wars pre-Vietnam (N. Korea, WWII, etc) were fought by people who were drafted. Those soldiers were forced into service, you are doing it of your own free will. That alone defines your character as an honorable individual.

nothing wrong with u, u love ur country, u love ur country.

its just the part that most young, first-generation Americans probably dont love what this country has done, and do not support much of what its doing. They're usually here cos they, or their parents wanted economic opportunities. So you don't find much patriotism there...

oh and to the idiot who just posted above me by anychance you from cali lol not even willing to face the fire to protect democrocy and the constitution just because it isnt happening to american citizens dosnt mean someone dosnt need to fight for it thats like if when germany started killing jews we just sat back and said well they arnt americans. well thank god we didnt do that we landed the biggest seaborn assult in history and liberated the jews and germans citizens so next time you talk think about it first

4walls i understand what your saying but the reason i want to be in a more active combat zone is i wanna shoot back not be hit with and ied sitting in a a hummer if i get killed in combat its better than behind a desk in a going nowere job i wanna be able to see the guy who killed me

and whoever gave 4walls a bad rating thats not cool hes actually been in combat listen to what he says dont denounce it
i had an uncle that was a marine in vietnam he never left the country the entire war from start to finish he trained the southvietnamese soldiers in demolitions and how to clear tunnels

I would be so proud to have you as my son!! Sometimes to be cool you have to be uncool! I hope you can educate some of these people who don't know the meaning of a patriot. Don't listen to those on here who will try and trash you, those are the uncool ones!

I Love America I participated in a large scale War 2 times... are you enlisted yet? whats your point? there is a lot of us that have gone through war. We dont talk about it we do it.
oh and there is people that believe we shouldnt fight other peoples wars. Respect people who dont want to be part of that, it doesnt mean they are not patriots!!! There is other ways you can contribute Patriotism without going to war trust me you dont want to be in that position Im telling you from experience, no matter how much of a patriot you think you are its a totally different animal. . You obviously are part of the cowards if you are not in there already...do as I did go USMarines we are the first ones in and the last ones out. I would bet anything youd pee your trousers if you go through 1/3 of what I went through. So lets see if you talk the talk or walk the walk.

As for Rusty's answer, man dont wish yourself to be in the position of a worst war that Iraq That war was terrible I lost many friends there!!! You wouldnt make a WW3 if you havent experience a lil war such as Iraq which by the way it might of seem little to you cuz you werent in it so WATCH WHAT YOU ARE SAYING AND STOP WISHING YOURSELF DEAD.

sorry man I had to add that in for that Rusty guy ...
