I was driving late one night from a gas station after a craving for ice cream when all the sudden police lights where flashing behind me. I then realized that my under glow neons where on after noticing the red light on the control panel was glowing. I thought to myself "Oh S***!", because from what I hear it's a big no no for under glow in Virginia. So I of course pulled over and I saw the officer stepping out of the car walking towards me with his flashlight and the first thing he asked was, "where'd you get those lights?". I answered and he said, "Oh just wondering, my son was thinking of getting some and I had no clue where to get them, sorry if I interrupted." He then walked back to his car. I thought it was a joke so I didn't risk driving off before he did because I didn't know if I was getting a ticket and he just walked back to his car to write it off, but no, he drove off and I was left confused.

our gov't is releasing a dangerous offender. He commited whatever (we'll never know) as a "young offender" now at the age of 22 he is out. Served 2 years OOOOOH, tells the gov't where he wants to live, and goes there.

Police know he will re-offend BUT 'he served his time', yeah.

Our justice is a joke. He out, and we don't know why we should be scared but we should (according to police).

We are not allowed to say what he did, or we go to jail. What kind of law is that?

Those of you in Canada, I am sure, know of whom I am referring.

Somedays it saddens me to be Canadian.

my next door neighbour was murdered late tuesday night.
the police have been in my block of flats constantly since it happened.
i understand that they have to get evidence n stuff but today i went to pay my rent i told the i would be back before 3pm to get ready for work. i got told they would probably be gone by then.
when i did get back a couple of hours later they had blocked off the entire landing with a black screen so i couldnt get in my flat.

i had to ring up work and i have lost a days wages. i dont get many hours at the moment so its really annoyed me.

they also expected me to stand outside in the cold for upto 2 hours while they did whatever they were doing behind the screen.

will i be able to get any compensation for this??

instead of trying to intimidate some suspects/witnesses,etc to speak up and tell the truth, why don't they just quickly give them lie detector tests? I'm not saying they should depend on those tests entirely for a conviction or acquittal, but it should be key evidence? that way we'll have an idea if the suspects, witnesses or other people, whom testify under oath are lying or not? or whether the suspects or victims are truthful or if they're leaving out important evidence or adding false claims in their sworn testimonies? some people lie and cause wrongful convictions or wrongful acquittals so this will help save the innocent? they're already spending money so why not purchase lie detector machines and hire lie detector operators to give these mandatory tests and make it known that if someone reports a crime or is suspected of a crime, they will expect to be given this test? it's infringing on their freedom but aren't criminals infringing on innocent peoples' freedom, too!? your opinions?

I got a ticket for speeding in a residential area a couple of months ago, and the officer wrote down my speed on the ticket as 25 in a 25mph zone, so I thought he was just giving me a warning (I'd misplaced my registration). Two days before my court date, I get a correction saying that I was cited for going 41mph. Then on my court date, he doesn't show and never filed my ticket into the system. I know he has a year to do this now, but can I get out of this? I'm tired of being jerked around by this guy.

My brother got a speeding ticket in my car on a residential road nowhere near a highway. The officer was CHP, and thus I would assume out of his jurisdiction. Can he get out of a ticket on those grounds?

It was midday and there was alot of traffic driving right past us, isn't that dangerous? Should it be illegal? The officer just stood at the back of the car while my husband had to get out amidst of all the traffic, endangering himself. It was only a moving traffic violation (speeding).

But beause he might work nights and I be with our neighbour on those nights in my house not hers, my stepdad who doesn't like her because I say his racist. My Mum says she doesn't mind because she likes her. Sorry if this doesn't make sense, but I really really don't want to go back and live with my stepdad, you don't know what hes like.

It seems whenever I see a parked police car, other than at the station, they almost always have their parking lights on at night. It doesn't seem to matter if they're on break in a restaurant eating dinner or sitting in the car doing paper work or sittin' lookin' for speeders. Why is this? Is it just to look cool? So they stand out to someone looking for help? WHY?
