They are a waste. The info is inaccurate and incomplete. It has been in the news and TV forever. Legislation is up to limit this because of the fact that these databases are usually wrong.
You either hire a PI which has software and access to databases....... or you order your life in a certain way. You surround yourself with people in which this matters not. You trust people but keep your eyes open. If in doubt it is possibly true. But humans lived, worked and loved without need for a background check for centuries and even in recent decades.
