If you were denied privileges that were given (and has always been given) to other people with the same sentence, can you sue the probation officer/correctional officers for discrimination?

My brother is in a work-release program. Everyone else is able to have personal visits after 30 days, regardless of the length of their sentence. He was told, that he has to wait 120 days (1/2 time) before he can have personal visits. And this is "standard" policy. But this "standard" policy doesn't seem to apply for other people, regardless of whether their sentences are shorter or longer.

Does he have a case for discrimination or unfair treatment? Should he file it now or wait until he gets out? What should he do?

I'm only in my first semester in college at sam houston state university in huntsville, tx.. and I want to get a degree in criminal justice (figures, if your familiar with sam houston).

Anyway, I would like to chose a career with decent pay.. im guessing about $40,000 out of college would be good pay. I definetly have in mind being a police officer, but I would like more information on other careers. Thanks.

This is to solve an argument that my friend is disputing that I should not know because it's none of my business that I live next to a convicted felon. He said it is discriminatory for the landlord to deny him a place to live because of his criminal record. I believe that's the reason why they run criminal records so they can weed out those individuals and provide a safe, comfortable living environment for all. Feedback from lawyers greatly appreciated.

why dont more americans petition there gov,t to ease up on pot laws ? the reason it hasnt been legalized in canada is because of the presser from the american gov,t (and of course are gov,t gives in) think of the jail space if all minor pot offenders wer released from prison think of the money the police dept would save not wasting time busting the guy sitting in his house smokeing a doobie.

I am dealing with some small towm politics that are keeping me from achieving my life long dream of becoming a C.H.P. Officer.
Some local cops are saying things to inquiring background investigators that make me sound pretty bad. None of them are true. They have no proof, but I also don't have a way to prove them wrong. Besides, they are badged and I am only an academy graduate. My record (including driving) is totally spotless. Oh yeah, I have an ex wife that looks and sounds real sweet, but in reallity DOESN'T PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS! I know the deck is stacked, I get that. But I am a straight shooter, a great father, and I genuinly want to do the job to do my part to make the world (Or at least my beat) a safer place to live and drive. I did well in the academy, and seem to have great instincts, so where do I go from here? Any proffesional opinions would be MUCH appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

someone has made up about 20 names to go and answer everything that I answer and say something about my answer. It has got to the point that I don't even enjoy the q and a like I did before. I had fun for a while but someone had to be a hater and screw that up. I have reported it to yahoo but it still is happening. I think it might be someone having fun but it could be more. it could be my husbands crazy ex wife.

Does anyone else find this to be very 2 faced...that the LAW & Judicial system excersise all power -
to authorize a legal marriage,
define it between 1 man & 1 woman,
Eliminate certain legal INDIVIDUAL rights if you are married, & then provide only one avenue for dispute resolution- a legal divorce?

And At the SAME TIME, they are blind to inter-family activities which are CRIMINAL unless they occur in the home & not against strangers? Don't we make it 50X Easier for our lovers to steal our ID, our $$, or Credit cards since the police minimize it as a "Domestic Dispute"? Only physical assualt w/ REAL hard evidence is investigated. If law wants to dictate over marriage then where are they when your SPOUSE is implicating YOU in a crime? You are legally not a person- you are a MARRIED person with special rules for your status. Is this not 2 faced?
