It depends on the state and the circumstances surrounding the incident. If you were protecting yourself and have evidence, then you will be exonerated. If she has no marks and the allegations are fabricated, you must show that to the court to be exonerated. If by some extremely stupid chance you did hit a girl and neither one of the previous suggestions apply, but it was not with a weapon and it is your first offense, plead guilty and you will probably get a fine for assault and battery. In my state, South Carolina, if you have been found guilty of the same misdemeanor offense on three separate occasions, then the rest are considered felony convictions and you will go to jail.

That depends on your past criminal record, if there were any injuries to the victim, the age of the victim and other factors. It also make a difference if this person is your girlfriend/wife. The penalties for domestic assault are sometimes higher.

If you have no criminal record whatsoever and it was a slap on the face of a girl your age resulting in no marks, then probably no, you wouldn't go to jail. You would most likely get probation and/or a fine.

The sex of the person does not matter, but a male hitting a female, should not only go to jail, but should get some "wall to wall counseling", so they can learn that males do not hit females. Of course in al life or death situation, fine, but other than that its a no no.

Per common law, battery is the intentional and voluntary touching of another person....like a form of trespass to the person. Battery is actionable meaning that a claim may succeed even without proof of damage. You should never hit anyone and yes, you could go to jail.

It depends on the situation 1st if it is reported by the victim or someone else. if the police witness it they will more than likely take you to jail for assault. Now if charges are filed and you go to jail youi could be charged with a misdeamenor or felony depending on what you hit or with your hand is uuually just a simple assault a weapon
used an aggravated assault. i copied the excat definition at the bottom. Now if you are married or in a relationship and hit your girlfriend or wife oyu could be charged with domestic violence(The New York State Coalition defines domestic violence as "abusive behavior - emotional, psychological, physical, or sexual - that one person in an intimate relationship uses in order to control the other. It takes many different forms and includes behaviors such as threats, name-calling, preventing contact with family or friends, withholding money, actual or threatened physical harm and sexual assault. Stalking can also be a form of "domestic violence."
Domestic violence can be:
Physical violence
Direct physical violence, ranging from unwanted physical contact to rape and murder.
Indirect physical violence, including destruction of objects, striking or throwing objects near the victim, harm to animals
Mental/emotional violence
Verbal threats of physical violence to the victim, the self, or others including children, ranging from explicit, detailed and impending to implicit and vague as to both content and time frame
Verbal violence, including threats, insults, put-downs, attacks
Nonverbal threats, including gestures, facial expressions, body postures
Economic/social abuse
Controlling victim's money and other economic resources, preventing victim from seeing friends and relatives, actively sabotaging victim's social relationships and isolating victim from social contacts.
Spiritual abuse)
in different states there are different laws concerning(DV) and in some cases both partys are taken to jail
Now to the important stuff you should not hit anyone for any reason unless it is in self defense. I know some women like to povoke or even hit a man to see his reaction but it is best to walk away. I always taught my son to not hit females and if they hit you walk away and don't come back men do not have to take abuse anymore than women do
