If the USA was occupied by a enemy forces, what role would law enforcement take-up?

Would the Police maintain law and order? Would the be organizing resistance movements? What about Federal and state law enforcement?

If this country was occupied by another force then I would think they would take everything over including police functions through martial law. I'll tell you this though, most of us would be dead if that happened as I don't know of a single officer that wouldn't grab one if not all of his/her guns and fight right alongside our military!

If the USA was occupied by enemy forces most likely the current police would be out of a job and looking to organize resistant movements. Hell, I dislike most cops I have met in the past, but I'd be right with them.

Your question really has no foundation. First off the United States has a population of 300 million people. What modern army could control Los Angeles, New York, Dallas?
Lets not forget you have the right to bear arms, you are probably the most heavily armed population in the world. So if your country was attacked, the invaders would not only fight an army, but at least 100 million pissed off armed good ole boys and girls. It would be a slaughter in your favor. If you have a city of 15 million people, you require a 10 to 1 ratio to control the city effectively that is why you are in deep in Iraq. You have nowhere near the strength required to control the country. So if America was ever invaded, dare I say there would be a pile of dead foreign troops stacked so high, NASA could walk to the moon?

In my area the police ARE an enemy force. Bought and paid for by drug dealing organized crime. Ask a valid public question about local (drug) crime and YOU (an honest citizen) get arrested on invented charges.

I don't care how honest a police officer you are, these criminals have utterly destroyed my ability to trust ANY law enforcement officer. So much for self regulation (of internal corruption and/or criminal behavior).

I tend to go along with the person who said the police would line up with the occupying force. Locally, anyway.

The police would take a step back and the military would take over. Martial law would be declared and the extra laws imposed would be supervised by the national gaurd.
