I am in the first hiring stage of becomming a officer, however one thing is in the back of my mind that's made me apprehensive since I wanted this career path. One of the questions on the app. is "Have you committed a felony and NOT been caught for it?" Well, I have. It was not a drug related , or anything that drastic, but if caught it would have been a possible felony charge, maybe a misdemeanor since I have no record at all. It was about 4 years ago and I know it was wrong and I know I F'd up but I am afraid on how to answer this question. Do I be honest about it and risk a possible chance on them investigating it since I was not caught? or be honest on the background and poly test and know that I was honest and would be honest at all costs. Is that not the idea of a poly?? Thanks!

With so many laws, how do cops know which ones to focus on in their enforcement duties? Why do their resources seem to be disproportionately focused on aimless patrolling and traffic citations?

Art. 18.16. [325] [376] [364] PREVENTING CONSEQUENCES OF
THEFT. Any person has a right to prevent the consequences of theft
by seizing any personal property that has been stolen and bringing
it, with the person suspected of committing the theft, if that
person can be taken, before a magistrate for examination, or
delivering the property and the person suspected of committing the
theft to a peace officer for that purpose. To justify a seizure
under this article, there must be reasonable ground to believe the
property is stolen, and the seizure must be openly made and the
proceedings had without delay.

I live in Ca. and have had a tortoise since before 1989 when the laws on possession of wildlife went into affect here. I went to Az. last year to care for my Dad and brought the tortoise with me because he is nearly blind and depends on me for everything. He stayed inside with me mostly unless I was outside with him but someone took him out when I went inside for a brief time. I was frantic and notified the Game and Fish dept. in case someone turned him in there. I offered a reward and he was returned the next day. I notified G & F again. 3 weeks later they came to the door and said he was being seized. They know I am telling the truth as I have been devestated without my little guy. I have been to court 3 times and now am facing a trial waiting for DNA results. I need help from someone who knows the Law about this situation. I was given papers on adopting another tortoise but why not my own? I am the only Mom my tortoise has known. See more about my situation under "zoology"
