In Michigan and all other states, yellow means STOP if you can do so safely. So, if the light was yellow when you entered the intersection and you could have stopped safely, you ran the red light.
Also, you may not enter any intersection until it is clear. If there was cross-traffic (includes any traffic turning left in front of you) or if you could not completely cross the intersection (backed up traffic), it is illegal to enter the intersection on a GREEN light.
If, however, the intersection was clear when you entered it, the light was green, and unforeseen events (kid running after a ball, elephant parachuting in front of you) prevented you from clearing the intersection before it turned red, you did NOT run a red light.

Sorry to disagree with biesello but, a yellow light does not mean stop. It means use caution and prepare to stop because the signal is going to change to red. If any part of your vehicle is in an intersection while the light is still yellow, you did not run a red light. Running a yellow light is not a traffic violation.
